I got a ticket to the Ohio State meet on 2/13. Super excited…… a few questions:
coming from 4 hours away….. is there a ‘can’t miss‘ food item? Do they sell PSU wrestling shirts? When do they open the doors? Looking forward to it!
If you are not in the parking lot by 6:00 that night good luck! Metal detectors move quick but there will be a line there too. Traffic back ups at BJC can take over an hour so get there early. I always am in the BJC an hour before the match starts. Years ago against IOWA it took me 45 minutes to make a 10 minute ride from the Penn Stater on campus to the BJC, which is about 2-3 miles. T Shirts etc on sale but lines are always loooong because the quality and type of tshirt sold at the BJC much better than in Rec Hall. Food is food, nothing special. Just GET THERE EARLY!
I might add too, as I found out Friday night, the Bellefonte exit is closed and we had to go up an extra exit or two and it increased travel time about 15 minutes. I come up 80 West

Seeing that the trip is 4 hours, double check before leaving your driveway that you have the ticket in your possession. If it is digital, remember your phone and charge it! Have a great time and get a win!

You come from the west and get off at Bellfonte?
How far west?

I think he means he takes 80 West (from the east). In his case, I’d just take the the Lamar exit. Otherwise, yeah, you want the Woodland exit from the West.
Yep. That’s what I was thinking. All the way to Bellfonte adds about 45 minutes.
Thanks

Correct, from Wilkes-Barre 80 West to Bellefonte exit. GPS directed us up to Milesburg exit up the road a ways. The additional time was about 15/20 more than normal.

If making the trip again before they open the Bellefonte interchange, I think you’d find the Lamar exit (before Bellefonte) a little faster. Maybe 10 min on a light traffic day.

If traffic/parking at BJC is so bad, is it better to park at Eisenhower deck, or even the HUB deck? Thinking specifically about the B1G tournament

Looks like no parking available on Sunday the 8th at BJC. Was able to get Sat the 7th. I'll have to park downtown. Eisenhower Deck also filled. :(

Are you talking about for Bigs? I can't find an event listing parking package yet.

Friday, I ate downtown a left the Pugh Street garage at 6:50 was parked using Park Whiz in the commuter lot next to BJC at 7:20 and in BJC by 7:30 according to my Life360 app to give you a sense of timing. OSU and B1G tournament will surely be more crowded but wasn't excessive regarding the timing for me this past weekend.

Hockey was another story as I had friends who had horror stories about getting into Lot 41. I came right in on Park and didn't have any wait at all getting into lot 15 at 11am at the same time.

I would always rather walk farther than get into congestion…. So I would walk from those, East or even Nittany Decks.

HUB Deck worked well for us for Saturday’s stadium hockey game… and was only $40.

Or the new Jacksonville/Howard exit at MM 163.

Also can’t find anything for any where at PSU on ParkWhiz. But I’m new to the site/app so maybe be I’m doing something wrong. Does this app show availability for all PSU parking decks or is there another one I should use?

I don’t think so. I don’t think they have released them yet. Can you see the Ohio State dual? If so you are doing it right.

If your goal is to pack your colon:

At the BJC, Grab a Chickie and Pete‘s Cheesesteak, also their fries and find a real beer somewhere. Thank Tgar later.

Down the hill from the BJC on East College before the match ( will most likely be packed after although you could get lucky ) go to Happy Valley Live. If after the match Happy Valley Live is packed, continue east and exit at Lemont ( less than a mile ) and go to Happy Valley Brewing Company.

Friday nights in town are pretty crowded but you may find a place to eat and drink prior. If you go to Bill Pickles early, Grab some wings.

Have Fun.

For the record, coming from the east on 80 it’s not 45 minutes longer. Having to use the Milesburg exit and going Thru Bellefonte to get on 99 adds about 10 minutes, having done it twice recently.

using the Lamar exit also adds about 10-15. Either way, not brutal while they work on the interchange at 161.

We’re still mixing up points of origin this discussion. Heading East on 80 from points West (say, DuBois), if you miss the Woodland exit West of Philipsburg, going on to Bellefonte adds about 45 min enroute to State College.

Good point. Not sure why that would happen but it’s true.

the bugaboo is exit 161.

No. That will not work right now. Jacksonville going south under the bridge at the 161 exit is closed to one lane and not passable. If you get off Jacksonvill, when you get to the normal 161 exit, you will be detoured back on to 80westbound.
I was wondering about that

Yes I see the Ohio State dual and even the Ohio State BB game on 3/4 so I must be ok, will have to keep checking. Thanks!
Someone mentioned earlier that they heard parking should be released next week sometime. 🤷‍♂️

Have you prepaid/reserved it, or just rolled in and found it available as we did for the stadium hockey game on Saturday?

Have you used it for football games? Same question as above if you have.
