Not only on campus but also around State College is a shiite mess with construction. Atherton & College & Beaver is under construction, Park Ave is closed for construction, apparently Beaver is having construction this week between Atherton and Garner. College Ave as well.

I have no real concern or heartburn over whatever they want to build and how much they want to spend but facilities matter and as an amateur architectural enthusiast I’m mostly interested in seeing the museum in its final form. The rest of the designs/builds are uninspiring IMO. Would like to see more progressive/green design akin to the award winning copper Stuckeman Family Building. Or some brutalist monstrosity.

There is a big difference between thinking something might be a worthy mission (such as, for example, updating dormitories), and wondering WTF it should cost such ridiculous prices.
At least one might reasonably think there is a big difference between those two - if one does even "barely fog a mirror" rational thinking.

When you don't ask those questions - golly - it could lead to $4 Billion of debt.

Dorm updates are long overdue.

My only gripe is that the new Art Museum really overshadows the Arboretum, which I find to be a very scenic and peaceful place for relaxing, with site lines that gave you a nice vista of the surrounding campus, both land and buildings. I think some of that will be lost with the very large museum looming over a significant portion of it.

It seems like Atherton and College always is under construction. 🤷‍♂️

I have never liked the Architecture building they put in North Halls. It seems like they "shoe horned" the building in there. It's super convenient for the A&A people living in North Halls but not the best looking design I've seen.

Sometimes I think you don't fully appreciate how hard it is to spend that much money.

Are you talking about the building I posted a pic of? Names one of the Top 15 Copper Buildings in the world according to Architectural Digest....YMMV :).

My next question is how many Copper Buildings are there? 🤣
I was in the Arts and Architecture interest house in Beam for 2 years.
I still think its ugly and was squeezed into the space. 🤷‍♂️ 🤣
