Flagg committed another Flagg

With under a minute in close Kansas game Shyler again went with Flagg making a low post spin move and it got stripped and stolen. Next play down the court they try Nipple in the same low post one on one spin move and that got stripped and stolen. I thought Dookies were supposed to be smarter than that.

They have no game ending strategy other than iso for a freshman, but neither freshman seems ready for that just yet. Tons of potential though. Hopefully Duke fans can enjoy their NBA highlights when they are ready for those moments 3 or 4 years from now. Scheyer can even brag about how much money they’re making then.

I swear it’s almost like Calipari drawing up these potential game winning plays. “Now you take the ball down and drive, make sure you spin to the same side as last time…”

As others have said it’s because they have no real PG. Proctor is a very good player but he’s a shooting guard playing point. They can manufacture a play when needed because they don’t have someone to run it at this time. Every team knows Flagg will get the ball and he relies on that one spin move.

Nah, you can't game plan for him, didn't you hear?

I don’t fault Scheyer or Flagg too much for the Flagg stuff. But wt# is up with Knipple? Played like trash all night, just like in every game. Last meaningful play, the call is to give it to Knipple so he can dribble into traffic and cough up the ball. Last desperation play with 2.9 seconds on the clock? Have Knipple launch up a prayer from deep. He’s only missed seven out of seven threes up to that point in the game. What could go wrong?

Total Cal move.

I mean the coach is Jon Sheyer. It's been expected and overdue.
I hope they fall on their face. Missteps can hurt freshman confidence.
Dukes shooter was o for 8 from 3. Including the game tying shot.
If He's not confident Duke is in big trouble.
That ain't even including flag into the problem.

Duke doesn't have a true point guard and certainly doesn't have a quick point guard that can guard somebody. Every person on their team 6'5" or above. That's a 100% true stat

Yeah, I'd say that's the biggest issue for them at the end of games. It's an iso for someone and so far it's been an iso for one of those freshmen. Flagg obviously has talent but he also has nerves at the end of games. He fumbled another ball near the end. Then they tried Kneuppel on the last play and he ran right into the paint and into a bigger Kansas defender and couldn't even get a shot off. I don't want to make any suggestions because I don't want to help them, but it's clear those guys are not your playmakers. They should give the ball to a ball handler and let him make a play, draw the defense, and then kick it to one of those freshmen for a shot. I think they would at least get a shot every time that way.

That is exactly how I felt watching it. Like Cal drew that play up.

Didn't watch the game, what did the Duke big man do last night?
After hearing that Dickinson was ejected, I would have thought that he would have had a big game

King Nipples was 0-8 from 3 point range. Ouch.

I think Scheyer is putting way too much weight on Flagg, there's a lot of other talent on that team, but he seems to want to run the offense through him and that's just not going to work.

I'm also waiting for all the excuses from duke fans, duke media members and everyone else that acted like duke lost the UK game, UK didn't win it.

God, can we please keep trying to make the Nipple nickname a thing? Lol.

I want this kid to go to the NBA and fans will be like "OH that's Kon Nipple! The guy that just jacked up a bunch of bricks for 3s at Duke"
I don’t want to pile on Kneuppel too much. He has a pretty shot. Form is similar to Klay Thompson’s. He’ll probably start making them soon. But yeah, he has been way off in Duke’s two biggest games.

Duke has loads of talent, but will it come together for them? It’s like watching some UK teams of the past where we just waited/hoped it was there by March.

I did noticed towards the end of the game Proctor (?) fouled, and Flagg was kind of in his face. Proctor looked like he was ready to say “shut the f up.” I’m all for a Duke implosion lol

The level of hate that I used to have for Duke and K has lessened quite a bit. I still don't like them but, I just cant feel that deep threat of them winning like I used to do. I do think this Duke team has improved since our game. The ball moved more freely and other guys were much more involved the overall offense. When we played them it was Kneuppel and Flagg in control of the ball on offense. I think they absolutely will be very tough by Tournament time.

Nipples are historically not very intelligent. 😁

Flagg being the media darling continuously has to rub a lot of the other 5 stars the wrong way.

Whoof. That reminds me of what Julius Randle used to do.

Driving the ball into teeth of defense at winning time is what I see

They needed floor space but if Knipple ain’t hitting then it’s a mess

Spot on, ILW. Those Duke guards are better than they're being given credit for, in my opinion. Scheyer just won't use them. Everybody on their team is put on the back page for Cooper Flagg.

With young teams, all it takes is an injury to a key player late in the year to derail the whole thing. If Flagg gets injured and has to sit out and nurse the injury, they could be in trouble.
That happened to their Zion team and several of ours.

Taller players dribbling into a congested lane is always a recipe for disaster in the college game.
Carr, Williams and Garrison need to make note ... as the dribble-to-floor-and-back range invites hands on the double-down and anticipation by guards.

If he keeps doing this against the good teams they play he'll earn himself the nickname Red Flagg .. if he hasnt already
