Some crazy *** stuff been happening down here.

I live in Bell County. Seen water in places I never have before.

Closed the flood gate in Pineville for the first time since it was built.

Closed off one lane in the Cumberland Gap Tunnel because water was coming out of the side of it.

Possibility that they may have to close Highway 25E at Pineville.

Road closures everywhere.

Wow

What's it look like out off Old Pineville Pike near Walmart, intersection 25th St.? Mom's house is there in the area and still unsold. Has Yellow Creek flooded?

I believe 25th street is all right.

Old Pineville Pike as you get toward Meldrum has been closed. Completely flooded.

Thanks very much for the info. I owe you a beer. Crap. I think it will be okay. The house sits high back off the street.

Just heard Cumberland Ave flooded again.

Harlan county is getting bad too. River by my moms house is as high as she can remember. She saw a video of a mobile home floating down the river.

Wow

I was driving through Pineville with a friend and his 5 year old son on the way to Lexington. The kid saw the flood gates and asked what they were for. Before I could tell him the truth, he dad said without cracking a smile, "they close them up at sundown to keep the monsters out. There's a lot of vampires and werewolves around here." The look on that kid's face in the rear view mirror was priceless...[laughing]

My mom has lived in the same house for 40 years and only 1 time has the water got to her house. But today she is worried.

I have a friend in Harlan and I think she said it was the 4th highest water level on record in Harlan. I bet the dock owners on Lake Cumberland are working overtime trying to keep all the cables cranked out to adjust for the water rising so fast.

I saw pics the other day of a dock on Dale Hollow that had broken lose and it looked like 2 or 3 sections of it was floating down the lake with the houseboats still tied to it.

Amazing! I cross the Ohio River everyday and it's not even high much less near flood stage in NKY. That's a Pine Mountain deal exclusively and it will drain much further downriver I guess.

Pine Mountain and Cumberland Mountain runoffs can get crazy. Middlesboro was founded in a meteor crater, which further complicates matters.

Highest I’ve ever seen the water get over here at Draffin Kentucky. That outside Pikeville. Somebody also told me Grundy VA closed their flood gates.

Didn’t know Grundy had flood gates. They must have built when they moved the town across the River. Lived there until I was 12 and 90% of my family are still there.

My great grandmother was born in Clintwood, VA. They moved to Pikeville at some point in the early 1900's. Likely for work in the mines although her dad was also a moonshiner during prohibition. He was a Stanley.

My family pretty much squatted on land about two miles from my parent’s home and we’ve been here for the last 150 plus years.
