I’ve got nothing against the delivery folks, but the fees and higher prices are insane. Don’t know how much the drivers are paid but I’m guessing it’s not much.
The report said that a lot of them are angry about the bad tips so they tear into the next customer's, food. lol. Or they see the lousy tips for the current customer paid ahead of time and eat their food on the way over.

I did Uber eats years ago. Didn’t make enough to make up for gas costs. And that was in when gas was $2 a gallon

Yeah, because of current gas prices, I'm sure many, many delivery drivers eat a few bites here and there and get their daily food intake that way since they can't afford groceries.

Obesity was already at crisis levels back when people got up off the couch and went out to purchase their large meat lovers pizza and 2 liter of Mountain Dew. Now they’re paying someone else to bring it to them so can spend that extra 30 minutes sedentary.

I work out in very remote rural areas a lot of the time. I always lock up my lunch box. I work with people that don't. I've known too many hicks in my life. I don't need a ham sandwich that's been peed on.

I'm amazed at how many people walk out of public restrooms without washing their hands.

Yea no thanks. Just got a cookie from a little girl selling cookies and lemonade in a yard sale neighborhood.
Pretty sure she didn't wash her hands before handling my cookie.

Never add another set of hands if you're ordering food. Too many nuts out there today.

As to Poppie not washing his hands in the Seinfeld episode, under Kentucky's food code a hand washing sink is required in the food prep area, so Kentucky Poppie could walk out of the restroom without washing his hands, then lather up in food prep.

I used to think the delivery services were pretty cool 5 years ago but I really hate them now although I still use them often. Always take forever and are cold half the time they arrive with the order messed up (although now maybe it wasn’t messed up but the driver just ate it all 😂)

Why act like a total pr*ck? Some of them have no other choice.

Sounds like what a Liberal would do. Get angry about high gas prices being talked about under this piece of trash puppet President and lash out at the poor delivery driver.
Wow, you need some anger management classes

Are you implying pizza delivery is at all a relatively new thing?

Just get Chinese. Those f***kers use so many boxes and staples on to go orders that it would be impossible for the driver to gain access.

Also, If you're cheaping out on the tip (ANY tip) you're trash. Especially with gas prices the way they are. 30 percent added on, and I'll usually give the driver a 5 on top (in case the restaurant takes a share)

Cheap tippers are of low moral character.

I typically avoid food delivery if the item is anything other than pizza or if I’m too hammered to drive. If the meal contains fries, your have to get it yourself and eat it immediately unless inedible, cold fries are your jam.

I also tip really well because I used to deliver pizzas in high school. Nothing worse than taking some fatasses 6 large pizzas and receiving no tip or 17 cents when they give you a $50 for a $49.83 order and tell you to “keep the change” like they’re some sort of baller.

Do they get the “works” on the next order?

Totally agree. No cheapskate here. Just leery of people draining their sinuses on my food because they think it's funny, lol.

They restaurant takes a share on the menu...the prices are usually higher on those apps then if you went, bc the delivery company Uber eats, etc shafts them. I think they have to pay to put their business on there, so a lot of them were losing money.

I've noticed tho some restaurants have multiple options disguising themselves like they are a different restaurant. Like Logans also posts as "Roadies" and hooters also posts as "hooties bait and tackle"

I’ve got friends who have done it and it’s a lot more work than people think. They need to do some serious planning on the ones they accept or they’ll lose money. If you live in an area where it may take a while to get another delivery, tip well.

As for tips, I try to carry cash for tips when possible. Lots of places do different methods of tip sharing, some good and some not, so I try to make it easier to commit tax evasion.

Some of the ghost kitchens on door dash are funny. There are some in Lexington that give an address that’s just a house. My favorite is “Captain’s Boil” in Frankfort. They have crab legs, mussels, and crawfish dishes. It’s actually the Frisch’s Big Boy.

I never use them as I don't trust some random handling my food. Cut way back on fast food for the same reason.

But a new report shows that 8 of 10 delivery drivers/bikers eat some of the food. Disgusting. lol

Used to deliver pizzas in college. You would go to the same places a lot that you knew would stiff you. Still I never had it in my to mess with someones food.

Pizza is the only one I'd ever have delivered. Even then, I tend to go pick it up anyway.

I don’t believe that. And I’ve done DD for some side $. Not once have I done that. I don’t even open the bags (many are stapled anyway). I will feel bag to make sure right number of boxes are there.

Btw, if you don’t tip at least $2-3, you will have trouble getting your food delivered, because drivers only get $2.50-$3 + tip and maybe a little extra ($1-3) if long delivery or DD offering bonus. You can only get in about 3 deliveries per hour, and are using up gas. I don’t accept order if total is <$5 or if < $1/mile. So I decline about 70% of orders.

8 out of 10 does seem high. but even 1 out of 10 is too many.

Curious, do DD drivers see the tip amount prior to accepting the order?

Yes and No.
You know the minimum ($3). When you receive an order to accept or decline, you are told the minimum you will get, and are shown on map where you are the restaurant is and the delivery address, and told how many miles it will take you.
But sometimes, not all the time, they tell you less than the full amount including tip because if you cancel your order after the driver arrive at restaurant they Have to pay 1/2 the promised amount. So if I accept one for $8, I can assume you aid a $5 tip, and 80% of the time that is correct, but the other 20% of time maybe you tipped $7 and I get a surprise after drop off and receive $10 instead of $8.

I have gotten (many) $100+ orders of food with ZERO tip; and I once got a $50 cash tip at the door for 1 slice of cheesecake (delivered to one of the worst apartment buildings around).
