For the BB experts, why does skelly get pulled all the time?

I thought Sanjay did ok tonight but it has seemed obvious to me over the last 6 or so games that Skelly makes a big difference on the court. He seems to know the offense pretty well and is a lot more athletic on defense than he appears. Just seems like a really good college basketball player that shouldn't be seeing so much time on our bench. Granted, he is playing more but when him and pardon were in, we did much better. Olah seemed lost out there today.

25 minutes tonight was a career-high for Skelly. I think Collins is trying to ease into more of Skelly and less of Lumpkin, but I don't think he's going to rush the transition

That's the question going forward. Were those career high in minutes part of the plan or was it because Lumpkin kept getting in foul trouble. Skelly played really well, but he clearly blew his assignment on defense multiple times allowing the Penn State cutter to get wide open on the baseline.

I love Skelly's developing game. He's gaining confidence, makes enough hustle plays on offense to make up for his occasional lapses in defense, and is developing a solid offensive game, even shooting well from the outside. He could be a key player for us the next two years. His development is fun to watch.

I don't know basketball very well but what I love most about Skelly (other than he's a hustler) is he is a GREAT passer for a big

Agreed. He really looks to create shots for his teammates and is willing to take some risks. Collins called an out-of-bounds play several times where Skelly would drop back to the free throw line and catch the in-bounds pass and look to get the ball to Olah under the basket. Gavin did a nice job of not hesitating on the passes and they drew a couple of fouls.

And he got his hands on at least 5 different passes. They didn't all result in steals but he has the most active hands on the team by far. He still gets yelled at a lot, so I think he misses assignments, but he is much more productive than Lumpkin. It was interesting that he got pulled after making the 3-pointer. I am assuming that Collins did not like him take a 3-pointer with man on him.
