For those of you who have lived, visited California and eaten at IN & OUT BURGERS, they're coming to Tennessee

WHAT-A-BURGER and now IN AND OUT BURGERS are coming to the Volunteer State...the latter is building a region office in Metro Nashville which means since they are a west coast chain, will be putting up restaurants in the Carolinas, along with the rest of the south....

I've gone to the what-a-burger in Petersburg, Virginia. Food was good, never had in-and-out burgers before though.

They need to bring checkers up to Richmond, they'd make bank off of me.

1. In and Out is more myth than reality.
2. It won't be able to retain quality outside of California.
3. There are far better regional burger joints.

Yes, I agree with #3...Pal's Burgers are much better...and the way it's set up is much better than In & Out.

Pal's is only in Northeast TN & SW Virginia, The TriCities. The company has had folks request to open in Asheville, Knoxville, Roanoke and the response is we stay in the TriCities only. My guess is, is to keep tabs on quality.

For those going to Gatlinburg, you can find one in Morristown and Jefferson City.

Give me rush’s over both. I was not impressed by either what a burger or in and out. Plenty of option right here.

 They have them in multiple areas outside of CA. There are 26 in the Phoenix metro. The one close to me stays packed. They have decent prices. Jack in the Box has a better burger.

Try the burger at In-N-Out "Animal Style" - you'll be back for more!
You definitely have to order the double as their patties are exactly 1/8" thick. And the fries are more like potato sticks. But they do place Bible verses on their cups. Whataburger is like the way all hamburgers were in the 1950's. And they're about 6" in diameter and can be extensively customized. I miss Whataburger big time.

I have eaten IN AND OUT in CA. AZ and NV. Have 3-5 t-shirts and have given about a dozen out as gifts.

The food is secondary to the novelty of the place. Employees wear white uniforms trimmed in red with red paper hats. Sort of like going into a 1940's diner but the food was probably better back then. Basic, average food, fun to watch them cut the potatoes.

No idea the last time you had Checkers, but in my opinion they've gone way downhill.

Had Checkers for awhile in Greenwood. They didn't last long.
There's a bunch in the Augusta/North Augusta area. I used to really like their burgers; a really nice juicy burger, especially for fast food. But the last time I went to one the service was terrible and the quality very subpar. I haven't been back.

Cook Out has kinda taken over the Checkers market in the Charlotte/Upstate SC area - cheap (used to be) and fast (sort of).

These are some of my favs....The chili they put on hot dawgs and hamburgers is simple chili with great spice and not runny. They sell a lot of sweet tea which I used to drink a lot of. I don't drink drinks with sugar or caffeine so the tea is out for me.
