I’m not sure if this is historically correct but I can say that Twitch was the oldest entry for players who were deferring compensation for the Phillies that I saw. I obviously can’t remember what year he deferred some portion of his comp from but he deferred Phillies comp before Schmidt did. The amount deferred was extremely modest given that he probably never made much more than $100k any year in his career, maybe even less.
