Nioooc! I would’ve loved to kept Justin for sure, but he felt like he needed to move on so this is a really good trade I hope. Hard to recruit and keep guys like this at that position so this is a big win for Kentucky I think

He also said NIL is the reasoning for Rodgers leaving, so we don’t have NIL for players on the rosters but have the money to sign another former 5star at the same position?
Because the production isn't the same. Silver is being taken out of hopes for development whereas Rodgers is a known entity. There's simply no way the NIL evaluation would be the same.

Great.

What did he do for NC last season?
Virtually nothing. He's played in 6 total games in 2 years and totaled 4 tackles in those games. For comparison, Rogers played in 7 games his freshman year alone and had 9 tackles.
Has 3 years left which is a huge huge plus. But I don't really expect him to come in and even start. I'm sure they feel confident they can develop that pedigree, however.

Said we're good this year, but will fall behind if things don't improve past this year.
So we were way behind everyone else according to Matt Jones, now we’re good, but next year we’re not. Funny how we so far behind, I believe he said worst in the SEC besides Vandy until we started signing top transfers and the original lie was proven wrong. Welp, good luck next year with the narrative that UK doesn’t support NIL.

The portal taketh away. And the portal giveth back!

You know, you have to feel pretty good about our position in the football world right now. I mean if we are at a point where we can lose a 5 star DT and go out and get another 5 star DT replacement within a week, that is pretty effing fantastic!

If our coaches aren't allowed to do everything every other SEC coaching staff is allowed to do in terms of promoting/selling "genuine" NIL collectives then there is a serious problem. It's getting to the point that I wonder if you actually would care if JMI was putting us at a disadvantage. The question is whether or not we are being hamstrung in any way with what our coaches are allowed to do versus other coaching staffs in the SEC due to our contract with JMI. If yes, then that is completely unacceptable and no rational fan of UK football could possibly defend permanently putting ourselves at a competitive disadvantage to benefit a third party company.

Y’all lied and said they weren’t allowed to advertise the collective, then an ad with Stoops comes out advertising the collective. Now you’re on to the can’t make appearances lie. A lie that an actual booster with an actual collective, promoted by UK said was false. The question is why do you all continuously make up these lies? The KSR cult puts Matt Jones and his agenda before the program. Look how desperate they are to promote this false narrative that hurts UK.

Do you think lying is acceptable? You talk about rational fan of UK while promoting a lie that hurts UK. Give me a break.

Tell me more about how we’re hamstrung when Jamarion Wilcox commits. Y’all will have more excuses like y’all have had every step of they way.

Do you think Marrow and Stoops would continually be on his show and communicate with him if he was telling outright lies? Much more likely that what he’s being told to say is from the coaching staff… hence, we’re seeing JMI relax after public pressure.

That guy is either a employee of the UK athletic dept, JMI or a family member of Barnhart's. I've repeatedly asked him to divulge what his connection is but, he continually ignores me and deflects the discussion to his agenda that no one (or organization) is impeding NIL progress re: UK football.
He's used a few different aliases, never posts on the BB forum and ONLY comments on threads about NIL.
I put him on ignore.

Do you think think Marrow and Stoops would constantly have to correct him if he weren’t lying? What are they correcting if he isn’t lying? Stoops said the issue was with business and fans donating, not the administration. Marrow had to correct him when he lied and said the RB decommit was due to NIL. Corrected publicly on the coaches show and corrected publicly on twitter.

That’s does matter, Daddy Matt comes first to the KSR sheep.

Depends on if the player leaving is “reasonable “ with what he expects to get.

I don't know how anyone could rationally think a DT who has barely played is even close to the NIL of a proven, starting SEC Nose Guard.
The only reason people care about Silver is because he was a 5 star 2 years ago. I don't know anything about him, he may develop and be a stud. But you're kidding yourself if you think this fills the gap of Rogers based on the now.

Rogers wasn't exactly all world either. He was at best the 3rd best DL guy we had this season. Walker was much more effective. And when Ox is playing at or above 300 pounds, he too is more effective. And Rogers never came close to equaling McCall's presence when he was here. I would rather we have kept Rogers, but losing him isn't a disaster. He played okay but wasn't great. I predict the DL won't miss a beat without him.

McCall had 57 tackles in 4 years with 10.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks . Rogers had 60 tackles with 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks in 3 years. McCall's PFF was 65.2 his senior year. Rogers this past year was 71.3, one of the best in the SEC according to Rowland. Not saying he's some kinda monster that's irreplaceable, but stats are stats.

They aren't correcting as much as doing pr for our NIL position.

This is a fair point…Rogers was starting NG for a reason and he finally had a breakout year last season IMO. But if Ox can’t get back to 300 lbs…he’s was more impressive two years ago then Rogers last year IMO.

And Walker will be elite at DT or NG imo…

So I’m feeling pretty good about the Dline now

It is widely believed and posted that Ox’s loss of 20 pounds reduced his game.

I hope that’s true.

I suspect the pounds Ox missed the most were the 300 taken by Pascal to the NFL.

Meh…it’s not like a DT is impacted by the DE in a 3-4 defensive set. Ox was a load until LSU game when he got hurt. He simply was not as impactful last year for some reason. I think it was dropped 20 lbs as interior DL is not a good idea

UNC folks say Silver got hurt then never worked hard enough to get back in shape to play

Hopefully the change in scenery can unlock the potential he had coming out of HS

Silver's evaluation is pretty good. Said he has a suddeness and quickness off the ball and point of attack. Very athletic and runs really well for his size and a long wingspan. Uses hands well and has the look of possibly an edge type defender, for us that would be a DE possibility with the way he can move. High first round and long term NFL potential.
