Was it a kind of situation similar to the "helicopter dad" that Leach had to deal with out at TTech with Craig James??
From what I have seen on the aggie site daddy thought Kyler was entitled because daddy played at atm.

Well, so much for that. With Stoops, he'll play based on earning playing time. It's that simple. Overbearing parents of college players must be a total pain in the butt to coaching staff members. Remember the Mitch Mustain fiasco at Arkie? I hear that Rhett Bomar's old man drove people nuts at OU.

Yep, stage daddies can be a hindrance to their little boys development.

They ought to butt the hell out.

The Aggie boards are slamming him hard. Texas Tech fans still slam Baker to this day. Who knows Stoops could talk to Sumlin about the drama. I doubt Stoops is rolling the dice. Oklahoma is not desperate at all.
I think I would like to see him as the slot receiver someday.

Not a big fan of this decision, but we'll see how it works out...right? A 5'-9 Ish, running QB doesn't seem like a good fit in OUr LRs air raid offense. He doesn't look to be an consistant, accurate passer?

Well I don't think Stoops is gonna be overly concerned with his dad having played at A&M. :D Maybe that's why Kyler decided to transfer was to help get his dad out of the equation.

Murray is 5'11" and big enough.....now let's see what Riley can do to make him a good all around quarterback. He's got 20 months to do it.

My son played with him for 2 years, the kid makes plays, he has a big arm and is avery good runner. As long as Murray buys in, we have a very good replacement for Baker. Unless Murray decides to enter the MLB draft after next season. He was considered the #5 SS in last years draft.

If Murray can show the same level of improvement in maturity and smart football play that Mayfield showed he can be a very similar player as Baker.
He will need to full out trust the OU coaching 100% from day one!

So, IYO, is he better than Kyle Allen or at least more upside? What is his true height? I've seen 5'8" to 5'11". I read where he never lost a high school football game as a starter, true? I've never seen him play.

He is young and very mobile. With right coaching his passing game will progress along with the young Sooners receivers.

I read some post on another board and they're saying A&M releasing him would make him eligible in 2016. Some comparisons to Russell Wilson in size escapabilty and being a baseball star as well.
I hope he can change Gregg Hills commitment decision. I think that's the correct name. A lineman from Allen H.S.

Let's not prejudge this kid. He has plenty time to adjust to OU's offense and could surprise us fans. I will be rooting for him like I do all Sooners. He is a Sooner now!!
^^^^Absolutely this!!^^^^

Like CT said, the kid has 20 months to learn under Riley. As far as I'm concerned, the sky is the limit for this kid's future at OU.

First, he's not close to 5'11". Just watch a little film. I'm not sure he's even 5'9", but that's probably about right. He's crazy quick with very good burst. Accuracy is lacking on the deep balls. He'll be a better bball player then football, but he's a really nice change of pace guy. Hard to keep him from getting to the corner on QB runs. Slides anytime anyone gets within 5 yds of him though. Totally opposite of Mayfield. I'll be surprised if he's ever the starter, but adds depth. Surprised OU staff didn't go after Allen instead. He fits the system much better and has a better arm.

He is 5'11 they had him listed at 6' in high school. He is the winningest qb in Texas football history, never lost a game was 3 time 6A state champ. Is he better than Kyle Allen, hard to say. I think Kyler is more like Baker. Kyle Allen is probably a better pure passer, Murray is definitely a better runner. I would take either one to replace Baker,

Even if he's 5'*8", he's still 4" taller than Charlie Strong..........:)

If you can find any of his high school film watch him throw the deep ball. He was pretty darn accurate.

I watched pretty much every snap he took this year. My son goes to A&M so I follow their games more closely then in the past. He was not accurate at all on deep balls. I'm sure Riley will get more out of him then Spav so that will be a big plus, but I'd put more stock in what happens in college then what a kid did in HS.

What did you see in Kyle Allen? I saw on another site where he had some very poor outings also. Both of them were freshmen (one RS), as I recall. It's hard to judge first year players, especially freshmen Q-B's...

Greg Little, is the #1 OL recruit in the nation, he has committed to Ole Miss, but who know maybe with Kyler he will change his mind, there was another OL from Allen that redshirted, Bobby Evans, who's older brother is Tey Evans a linebacker on the team.

Quite a few horn fans commented on this. We haven't seen some of you guys in awhile. I think you're posting cause Santa didn't bring you a QB.

Santa did bring us a QB. If Buechele can throw like his old man played baseball, I'll be very happy. But problem is even enrolling early, doubt he'll be ready to play against ND. Texas needs a QB next year and either Murray or an incoming freshman isn't going to fix that.

Quite honestly, I just took a peek over to see what the reaction would be. Mixed which is to be expected. Who knows, he may even grow over the next year. I grew 2 inches in college, so you never know.

Way too much is being made over Murray's height.
Reports range from 5'10"-5'11" and I have yet to read of him being under 5'10". Bottom line is this: he is has tremendous potential and with the right coaching could be a special talent at OU....and why would OU take him if the COACHES thought his height was detrimental to his becoming a capable quarterback ???

That's right, even Bobs charity has conditions.
That is you must bring something to the party.
OU has never been so hard up to give out schollys willy nilly, and I doubt they ever will.

Exactly CT. If height was an issue, then Bob wouldn't have even extended an offer for the kid to join the program. If Bob thinks he is a right fit for his program, then that's all that matters. This kid had a TON of talent and potential coming out of high school. The kid could end up being a damn special player at OU before it's all said and done.
