It didn't paste over how I wanted it too the first line is his 24-25 stats and 2nd line is his 23-24 stats.
With those HORRID numbers why in the world is our staff even talking to him????

Hopefully just his agent throwing our name out there to up his NIL.

I agree those numbers don't scream anything to me he scored 19 ppg but he shot a lot of shots to get that. Then again we already have 12 and if it's not an agent ploy then I honestly don't know maybe a good one for a 13th roster spot.

I think it is time for someone to define what "heard from" means. I have no idea exactly what this entails. Is it a form letter, a phone call, a text? I have no idea but I tend to believe it is agents as well.

From his film he looks like a smaller Thiero. Finishes well at the rim through contact

Because the 13th player on the roster doesn't really matter. They will grab some development piece that won't hardly play unless we are up 40.

Oweh could leave

It is always good to have some backup plans
Tired of the Oweh could leave stuff. He said multiple times now, if he is not first round, with solid $$$ he is coming back. He is still not on any current draft boards for either round. He is probably 99.5% chance of being back. Not sure what type of workout he could have that could move him from mid 70s in draft prospects (almost 20 out of the last 2nd round spot) to first round major $$$$$. UK is looking for a guy that is break glass in case of several injuries and major foul trouble like 6 guys with 2 fouls in the first half.

i mean even if oweh 99% stays

You still need to make somewhat backup plan...

You can not make no preparation if strange scenarios happen

That would probably be Aberdeen. Right now without Oweh (for argument sake), You have lowe, Aberdeen, Williams, Mo, BG with back up options.

look up his shooting splits. It's amazing he could score 19 locked in a gym by himself, honestly.
Yep. On the surface it makes no sense. Either this guy has Liggins-like defense that's not showing up in his base stats or Pope has done one of his deep dives and found out this guy is 100% from three when he goes to his left and then coughs on a Tuesday.

This dude is a Jr. So even that is not a reasonable answer to WHY.

Bringing in a Freshman or Sophomore would make more sense.

If they feel like he could improve then there is the reason. He is still a young guy. I doubt he is who we add just giving possible reasons.

I said a month ago that our staff is playing 3D chess while most are playing tiddly winks. Our staff might have no intention of signing him. I think some of their contacts are for reasons other than actually signing players.

Maybe he shot so bad because he was doubled team crossing half court and his team was terrible and had no one else worth a flip. Nah, that couldn't be it, just look at his shooting %'s and form an opinion. Do some of you not understand that players when they are surrounded by other players and not forced to fight every second of a possession to try to get open, their %'s go up ??? Think of it like this, put someone like Oweh on NC A&T and see what his %'s look like. I promise you, they won't be stellar. Teams gameplan to stop HIM, not NC A&T. You stop him, you stop them.

I prefer a 8-10 pts guard in mid major school to be our 11-13th guy...

Dont think this 19pts guy is willing to be cheerleader for us
The Almonor type addition. Seems the most likely if we’re looking to add one more. Not expecting a lot of minutes, get paid more than you will at [fill in small school here], but has a niche that might win you a couple games in a pinch.

I wish the staff could add an Almanor type player to finish the roster up. He did a great job last year coming in and hitting 3's!

People forget that Ansley Almonor averaged nearly 17PPG and over 5 RPG the year before coming to Kentucky!

Just because a guy has a high PPG total doesn't mean they aren't willing to accept a role, if their goal is to win at a high level.

Not saying I'm for or against this take, haven't even seen or heard of this kid, but it's all about fit and role at this point.

I wrote this in the other thread about adding a player once Perry entered the portal, but it fits here, too, as he kinda matches the exact criteria I mentioned below...

If he doesn't return, one realistic possibility for Perry's scholarship could be a guard from a low mid-major who could potentially still make more $$$ at the end of the bench at UK than he would staying where he is.

Maybe find a point guard or combo guard who could fill in if there were some significant injuries, but maybe has some limitations in his game - not a great perimeter shooter or maybe is a good shooter but not quite as athletic. Here are a few examples that may fit those criteria (No idea what kind of NIL money these guys are getting or their mindset of wanting to join a championship contender vs playing more):

Proximity and/or Pope saw first hand as an opponent:
Miles Rigsby - Troy
Dezayne Mingo - Marshall
Marvel Allen - Dayton (has horrible history of injuries, so not sure about this one)
George Kimble III - EKU
Don McHenry - WKU

Playing at lower level (non P5)
Denver Anglin - Rice
Amaree Abram - La Tech (transferred to La Tech from Ole Miss, so he probably wants more playing time)
Dominick Nelson - Utah Valley
Kezz Giffa - High Point
Seth Hubbard - Toledo

If that’s how Oweh really felt then there would be no need to go through the process because he’s never gonna be a 1st round pick.

Despite his public statements, clearly he is looking for something else.

This is so dumb.

It's still helpful to go through the process and get feedback, and he can't formally do that unless he declares.

If he was "clearly looking for something else", he'd have gone in the portal, which he didn't.

Take your pot stirring elsewhere.

You got through the process to meet with Teams, GMs, gather feedback to see what they think you need to work on. The process is a networking advantage for the next draft. If a player can gather what (4 or 10) teams say is what you need to work on, why you are not on the board this year, then you have something to work towards. That is why you do it.

lol

What he hears from the “process” is no different than from what Pope told him at the end of the season. Work on your jumper, work on your handles. I mean it’s no secret what he needs to work on to elevate himself.

When i say looking for something else im referring to him seeing if he can play himself into a top 45 pick and a guaranteed contract. Has nothing to do with transferring. He doesn’t need to go through the process to know he’s not going 1st round
