Just rewatched some bits of conference games from last season. It is amazing how differently the zebras are calling fouls on drives last year versus this year.
Case in point...watch the second half of the South Carolina game from last year. Andrew, Aaron and James Young were all bailed out a number of times. They would drive to the lane, get in traffic, throw up a prayer and get the foul call. (We took 27 FTs this year against USC, and last year we took 42.)
I can't help but wonder if this is part of problem this year for the Twins, particularly Andrew. It's like fool's gold. The habit of drawing fouls last year doesn't work this year because refs are letting much more physical play take place on drives. They expect the foul call and it never comes, and consequently, they throw up an off-balance shot and fall down and everyone is left scratching their heads.
They absolutely need to finish better around the rim, but I just wonder if part of the reason they aren't so great at it is they never had to be last year not an excuse, but something to ponder.
