I have fond memories of Fran's tenure. Loved that he could control his hot temper. Never went full Bobby Knight as I remember, but the stare down with the ref was epic.
The ironic thing is, they actually play defense AND blockout for rebounds... 
So, Iowa will play Penn in the play in a first 4 game…lol.

Penn isn’t going on a run. Remember, this is Fran. He’s never done it before…even with a roster that had future NBA players…I hardly think he will do it now.
Just because he won a low level conference tournament in a league that only has 8 teams doesn’t mean he is suddenly going to make an NCAA tourney run. Not a knock against Fran, but let’s not go overboard.

I actually agree with you on that it should have been a T, which would have gave us no chance to come back against MSU and probably kept us out of the NCAA tournament which in turn probably makes Beth fire Fran a year earlier after the 24 season and then we hire Devries from Drake and Ben goes to Drake and has a great year last year and then gets hired by Indiana.
How’d he do against teh fighting Illannoy? Cuz that’s who he’s playing. Wonder if they’re Quakering in their boots.

Penn/Illinois is an interesting match up. Always seemed like Fran and Brad Underwood had a pretty friendly relationship.
I was told that they sat at the curmudgeon table at the B1G coaches conferences and wouldn’t let Izzo join them.
At this point in his career, returning to your Alma Mater and playing in the more genteel Ivy League after the meat grinder B10, is probably fun as hell for Fran.
