Is this a job for Venables to consider if offered?
Someone should remind the guy that kirk ferentz started @ iowa in 98; shortly after the whiffing in major typical hawk fashion when they failed to hire young Bob Stoops...
I'd love to see Venables at K-State. Like to see him do well anywhere he goes. He exposed many issues with the old offensive system last year. Not that others hadn't as well, he just put an exclamation point on it.
It was one Brent Venables who came to Norman in 1999 and showed a team full of players what a real man does in the weight room... those players found out they were wimps when coach walked in. They weren't wimps anymore when August rolled around. Kudos to Brent Venables and all that he did for OUr beloved football team, and I have only the best wishes for his continued success wherever that might be, preferably in the BigXII somewhere.
I think you are getting Brent Venables and OU Strength and Conditioning Coach Jerry Schmidt confused. Venables may have told the guys they were out of shape, but it was Schmidt's job to get them into playing shape before the first practice was ever held.
But not to hijack the thread, I have to say that I don't recall a season when so many coaching changes were announced before the season ends. This is just a few of the programs who might be making changes after this season:
Va Tech
Miami
Maryland
Virginia
Minnesota
Illinois
KSU (rumored)
South Carolina
USC
