How would you like to bump in to him in the dark while you were walking out to the smokehouse to get a slice of ham for supper, and he was on the way in to recruit your kid?Originally posted by WildcatFan60:
Good coach. Scariest eyes in basketball.
I'm not sure how he is underrated. He has really not done anything in his career, other than the one great run to the Elite 8 at K-State.Originally posted by Cawood86:
I really like him. Very underrated coach IMO.

Notice how his players would not even look at him when he got in their face?
I agree.Originally posted by Blouman:
He's a good coach. Glad he's in the conference.
He employs the "Bobby Knight" style of coaching his players. He constantly gets up in his players' faces with his menacing stare all the while barking at them like some irate storm trooper. Cal gets on his players too but nothing to equal the likes of what Frank Martin does. I found it hard believe that many players and/or their parents would find such coaching acceptable but obviously they do because he has been coaching for quite a while with some limited measure of success.Originally posted by louisvilleblue:
I really don't like the guy.
The main difference is Bobby knight would never praise his players in a loss. Martin said he was proud of his team tonight and wasn't worried about the score or their record. He saw fight in them. Bobby would have never said thatOriginally posted by Kampus Korner:

He is certainly intense on the court but try listening to his post game interview. He sure says the right things and has nothing but good things to say about his players. I am not particularly thrilled with his in game antics but he sounds like he has his heart in the right place.Originally posted by louisvilleblue:
