No. 11 Penn State’s Sean Clifford ‘not up to the standard’ in win over Northwestern
Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford struggled in the No. 11 Nittany Lions' 17-7 win over Northwestern on Saturday.

Thanks coach.Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State are the next 3 games. All 3 are winnable games but we could lose all 3 games. If we lose 2-3 of those games, then I’m all in with playing Allar the rest of the year.
Total agreement. Many on the board will say they agree but if it happens and we lose to Rutgers, many will call for Franklin’s head, say Allar is a bum and try to run Yurcich out of town.Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State are the next 3 games. I sincerely hope that if Allar becomes QB that he lives up to the “Tom Brady Super Bowl level” that everyone expects.
I agree- but I also think we win 2 of those gamesMichigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State are the next 3 games. All 3 are winnable games but we could lose all 3 games. If we lose 2-3 of those games, then I’m all in with playing Allar the rest of the year.

and went nowhere near as high in the draft as people seem to think Levis willYeah, but Tom Brady gotbenchedbeat out by Drew Henson while at Michigan.
I interpreted it like you said = he did not play up to the standard he normally play = JF still has faith in SC. I also think that Clifford is once again not at 100%. his scrambling is not nearly as evident as normal. He is hesitating to run when it may be his best available option. Assume the brace on the knee is not there just for show. The headline is misleading. “Not up to the standard” could be interpreted as the standard we expect and require, which I‘m sure is part of Franklin’s thinking. However, Franklin said that Clifford did not play to the standard that he normally plays at, which suggests that Franklin considered it an off day. That likely means that Franklin hasn‘t lost faith in Clifford.
Not Really.Yeah, but Tom Brady gotbenchedbeat out by Drew Henson while at Michigan.
Better taste.....less filling? Fans feel strongly both ways. Couch coach insight.Total agreement. Many on the board will say they agree but if it happens and we lose to Rutgers, many will call for Franklin’s head, say Allar is a bum and try to run Yurcich out of town.
100% agree. And I think Allar will be the full time starter by the final third of the season just for the fact that Franklin knows how special next year could/should be.Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio State are the next 3 games. All 3 are winnable games but we could lose all 3 games. If we lose 2-3 of those games, then I’m all in with playing Allar the rest of the year.
If we are still in the hunt, no way he makes a change- if we're not, maybe he wouldI dunno, if Clifford isn’t clearly injured IMO it’s a pipe dream to think CJF would demote Clifford at any point this season.
The headline is misleading. “Not up to the standard” could be interpreted as the standard we expect and require, which I‘m sure is part of Franklin’s thinking. I can’t see him replacing Clifford until he’s injured. Given his history, that’s just a matter of time. I expect Clifford will be hurt with Allar getting more reps starting the week after the Ohio St game.
He needs another year of seasoning!!Agree with this. Cliff is still the guy.
Yeah, he does.He needs another year of seasoning!!
Franklin screwed up in the off season. He should have influenced Clifford to move on with his life's work. Veilleux should have been the starter with Allar replacing him the second he faltered. This should have been Allar's grooming season along with grooming all the other terrific underclassmen. Next season could be our year to shine, but we need a seasoned Allar to do it.![]()

we'd probably be 3-2 now and people would be calling for Franklin's headFranklin screwed up in the off season. He should have influenced Clifford to move on with his life's work. I still think he could use his knee injury this year as a medical redshirt and return next year. Does his NIL company pay Social Security and at what age can payments start? He needs another year of seasoning!!

You are an idiot.Franklin screwed up in the off season. He should have influenced Clifford to move on with his life's work. Seems that way.Isn’t that a preferred scenario?

Would salt be okay?He needs another year of seasoning!!
Not sure about next game, but I’d be willing to wager that Allar will be the starter by the end of the season.Maybe James needs to take a page out of Tomlins playbook and start the future QB next game.
BINGO. Also probably intended to send a message to Clifford. The headline is misleading. “Not up to the standard” could be interpreted as the standard we expect and require, which I‘m sure is part of Franklin’s thinking. However, Franklin said that Clifford did not play to the standard that he normally plays at, which suggests that Franklin considered it an off day. You must be a charter member of the "my favorite PSU player is the back up QB" club. Anyone who thinks starting Allar in his first game in the Big House is absolutely clueless.Maybe James needs to take a page out of Tomlins playbook and start the future QB next game.
My error, not start but insert in the second half if our first half is a continuation of overthrown passes and missing open receivers. I have stuck by Cliff for many painful years but it is getting pretty old seeing the same type of plays. You must be a charter member of the "my favorite PSU player is the back up QB" club. Anyone who thinks starting Allar in his first game in the Big House is absolutely clueless.
So now start allar in his first game at Michigan? Lol![]()

Yeah, the third string guy should have been the guy.Franklin screwed up in the off season. He should have influenced Clifford to move on with his life's work.
