Bummer for Houston, but i think FVV did his job of getting these young players up to speed and mentored them well. And yes, very big for Reed.

As someone who lives in houston and watches a lot of Rockets games, there is no way Reed steps up. He can't play defense and our coach is Defense above all else type of guy. Rockets will probably bring in a vet and let reed come off the bench about the same amount as he would've already.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Reed’s game, and his work ethic. That said, I just don’t think he possesses the first step/speed off the dribble to be an NBA starting point guard. Also, while he is great at jumping passing lanes and anticipating things in general, his lack of speed hinders him when defending his man straight up as well. Hope he proves me wrong.

If Reed can’t stop a straight line drive, he’ll never be more than a 10-15 min/game shooter type.

I told some friends after last season they should trade him for draft picks in order to dump his salary. Would have been a brilliant move in hindsight.

It was a combination of Reed played really well 2nd half of his UK year and mostly the myth grew up about him that made GM's actually believe the hype tha he was the best college player in America.

What trade assets does Houston have to bring in a quality vet?
Not going to pick up a starter off waivers.

Reed went that high because it was one of the weakest drafts ever. I was glad he did, but that was the reason. When he posted insane combine numbers, he made his case.

I don't see him as a starting pg on a team in the modern NBA. If it was a big man era where a pg just initiated an offense and knocked down open shots, hed be perfect. Nowadays you have to create offense and/or stop the opposing pg from creating offense.

We'll see.

Cj McCollum and Terry Rozier to name a couple. you will likely see the rockets run with aaron and Amen getting the most touches with durant filling in when needed. Most didn't expect Reed to get any significant playing time this year due to us being in win now mode. don't expect to see him unless its garbage time. Many here need to recalibrate expectations for what Reed will ever do in Houston.

Rozier played awful last year.
