For those who are looking for a legal method for acquiring music, Amazon is giving away a ton of free albums right now. There is of course the assorted junk in here you always find in the free section at Amazon, but once you start digging in there are also a ton of classic albums in every genre. I'm still going through the list, but the on the first few pages alone I found great albums by Lauryn Hill, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Ozzy Osborne, The Clash (including London Calling, which may be the best Rock album ever recorded!), Willie Nelson, System of a Down and Pearl Jam. There is 1,200 listed here, and I have no idea how long it will stay free so act fast if you are interested.

Nothing's free. Amazon is just downloading their software into your hard drive every time some one wants a "free" copy of Spin Doctor's "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"

Nice try Perrin.

Spotify & Slacker changed my life. Dialing up any song or album on demand instantly is worth the few bucks a month they charge.

And it's actually only 570 free album, with seemingly half of it being various artists. Mostly a bunch of junk. AS if Amazon decided to have a yard sale

It was 1200 when I posted it. Looks like they raised the price back up on most of the good stuff. I did a search for AC/DC's Flick of the Switch and it's back to regular price.

I'm not saying it's right, and I often feel guilty, but I can't bring myself to pay for something when it's free and easily attainable, especially when nothing has been done to stop it. You can torrent any CD under the sun, aside from VERY indie/underground bands, or older albums that never got popular.. and there are virtually no repercussions. Government and ISP don't seem to care about stealing a gig of music every week..

Again, I know it's stealing.. but if there's a hundred dollar in the middle of a field, you're gonna take it. That's essentially what the music industry has become if you're even slightly tech saavy.

They are too busy with the guy seeding 1,000 gigs a day or hot torrents like GoT Season 3..

They HAVE in the past nabbed one-offs for torrenting, probably as a scare tactic.. but I haven't heard much on that in years. Maybe it never stood up in court? Or maybe they just have bigger fish to fry.

Either way, until they prove to the masses that they will actually start cracking down on pirating music, no ones going to stop. Why would you? The only risk I have is once in a blue moon I get computer aids and have to hit my machine with some penicillin.
