5/16? No Star kids in high school can even shoot 50-60%. At one point we were 3/13 and they were 3/4. That has nothing to do with offensive player or ball movement, getting out rebounded, poor substitution patters or missed recruiting classes. It’s just unacceptable and you cannot win games missing 10+ free throws and our FT shooting has been poor for a while.

What would you suggest we do about it?

Assume they already do that.
You know what they say when you assume. Seriously, are thru shooting under some type of pressure? Shooting only one or two at a time and getting the heart rate up in between? Mindlessly sitting there, maybe screwing around possibly rolling off 10-20 in a row isn’t “practicing”. Honestly I don’t know how they practice FTs but do you know another college team that shoots FREE throws as bad as we did tonight or have lately. Whatever way they are “practicing” I’d certainly switch it up. Or bring in a sports psychologist.

So it seems like you're making assumptions too then, aren't you buddy?

We're a middle of the pack FT shooting team. Sometimes you miss.

Our last four losses we are 5/16, 8/14, 8/12 and 6/10. 51%. That’s not middle of the road, Buddy. That’s terrible.
Sounds like you cherry picked 4 games. The bad games had bad free throw shooting? What a revelation!

Ok throw in the game we won, 56%. Big deal. It’s 57 attempts over the last five games. Something is wrong. You can be a jerk to me all you want, and be in denial, but the team has a problem. Your genius analysis of “you miss some” might be the most naive thing I’ve ever read.

Do it more. These percentages are horrendous. 5/16? Bush league at best.
If you take Derek Simpson out, who was 3 for 4, the rest of the team shot 2-12.
That is less than 17%, for a team shooting over 72%. How did they lose focus so badly?
Couldn't be fatigue because it was early in the game.
I'm not sure I've ever seen RU shot free throws this badly!
Hope it doesn't happen again. Go RU, beat Penn State on the road.

Poor foul shooting has more impact for Rutgers because of their lack of scoring as seen with 45 points against Michigan.Fans keep looking for the reasons why the offense is mediocre. It starts with recruiting and ends with the lack of player development in improving offensive skills. You are what the record says you are as a team and as a player.

Those misses were not about technique. It’s ALL between the ears. Mentally fragile team.
