It may be a bit more improtant for us because we lost so much at one time that are likely to be replaced by Frosh.
The following year too, as was pointed out already, we'll lose 4 players. Gonna be a real young team.
I'm excited. I really like our two transfers also. We are really going to surprise people. All of you guys, erroneously, think I have a blind crush on Jordan Ash. I wish we can find another point guard before the season starts. To start or get valuable minutes. That's our only pressing need.
While NU will have 4 Freshmen, at least three of whom are expected to play significant minutes, the Cats will not be a "young" team in 2018-19. NU will have 4 Seniors eligibility-wise, including Vic and Taylor who will be in their 5th year. They will have two other players who are in their 4th season, Turner and Falzon. So 6 guys who are 4th or 5th year grown men is a nice experienced nucleus.
That's right...and the best talent position is likely wing where NU has Law, Taylor, Turner and Kopp....I think we'll see three of them on the floor at the same time parts of every game with one big and one lead guard.
Yes it will be young. Falzon and Turner will be fifth-years, Benson a senior, Gaines a junior. The rest will be underclassmen. There’s a lot riding on the 2019 recruiting class.
Yep. That's why this year we need to make a repeat appearance in the NCAA tournament, otherwise it could be a 2-3 year drought.
I think 4 factors primarily influence the degree of impact freshmen can have on a team.
1) how good they are on day 1. Not long term talent projection, but just how good are they from the start. Some guys with a lot of talent are a little raw and not ready to make a big impact right away.
2) opportunity and who they have to compete with for PT
3) Basketball intelligence and ability to pick up the offense and defense the rest of the team is running.
4) how friendly the coach's system is to newcomers playing it at a high level. Some coaches are more friendly to freshmen contributions than others. Bo Ryan, for example, rarely had freshmen play much at all.
