There are some pretty good schools on that list.Several like Cal and Stanford and Vandy are good academic universities.Georgia Tech no slouch either.Thinking positively we will not be on this list next year.
Only a few of those schools had losing records in basketball. GA Tech, Syracuse, Nebraska, Cal, us.
Drops down to 3 if you count teams with a losing record in BBall and only won 3 or less in FB.
My point, even amongst the dregs, I'd rather have won 5 FB games and had a winning record in BB. This was a bad, bad year. So was 2019/20 for FB and BB.

Actually, just about all of them did. Cal and maybe Washington dismissed their basketball coaches.
Wait a minute, I keep hearing about how NU should be like Stanford and Vandy as academic institutions with good BBall programs! Guess we are.
For those of you that think academic restrictions have no impact, I’ll wait for your retorts.
Stanford and Vandy are struggling now, idk why. But they both have been to the tourney like 15x as often as us.
Even recently, they are way more successful than us. So, yeah, I'm ok with saying MBB should "be like Stanford and Vandy". Of course, Willycat will say that every program except us (and maybe Stanford) relaxes admissions. So, therefore, it is impossible. Even though we had a decent level of success (averaging 17 wins a year) from 09 to 2018.
I'm ok with sporadic success. I'm not ok with constant suck
Of course academic standards reduce the likelihood of success in sports, especially in revenue-producing sports. I do not think anyone can really dispute that assertion. But, our academic standards also are critical to preserving the identity of Northwestern. They express our priorities, our values, and our self-image. Fitz and Gary have shown that we can have success in football even while maintaining our academic standards and institutional integrity. They worked tirelessly to accomplish their goals within the parameters established and endorsed by the vast majority of alums, trustees, and friends of the school. Their successes are truly remarkable in that context.
What identity are we trying to protect, the top 10 academic rating or one of the top 10 least tolerant universities? Successful athletic teams will attract high academic applicants with broader interests than their grade point
