I don’t really care but I wish it was 20+. Anything to create over confidence on FSU’s part. I don’t bet on sports, college or otherwise, but I’d bet that there will be more folks in the stands this coming Saturday than there has been in their first couple of home games.

It's a road game for the Cards and these guys are still learning how to win again. FSU has struggled early so it's my hope they continue to struggle and not figure it out against the Cards. A road win over FSU would mean a lot for these kids.

The line makes sense to me. We beat EKU and Western, a G5 team that lost in week 1 to an FCS team. FSU just lost on the road by 7 to a ranked opponent.

While it’s great to have a two game winning streak, let’s remember that we have exactly the same record that we were expected to have at this point. We lost to one team that is highly ranked and then beat two teams that would not be competitive in our division of the ACC, so we still do not have a very good idea as to whether we are the 7th best team in the Atlantic or the 2nd.

Having said that, the ESPN FPI is attempting to give us some idea of where we stand:

2. Clemson
18. Miami
30. Virginia
31. Kentucky
37. Florida State
52. Wake Forest
57. Louisville
59. NC State
78. Syracuse
82. Boston College

I agree with that line. Our defense will keep us in this game but our offense have yet to prove that we can move the chain against a good defense. Our QB from starter to back ups have significant flaws that can be exploited by a good defense.

We don't have a good defense; in fact it is one of the worst in college football Moving the chains should not be an issue. We are 130th in the nation in first downs allowed.

At least our defense didn’t choke and give up 19 unanswered points like your yut defense did to take the L.

We’re ranked 29th in total defense compared to FSU at 120th. Our defense isn’t great, but it is good.

He's an FSU fan. A little quick on trigger.

And yes, between our defense, and there lack of defense, I think this is a winnable game for us, but we definitely need to win the turnover battle.

Indeed I am an FSU fan. Suffering through this unmitigated disaster of a season, and now have been called a scrub to boot. I'll head back to safer waters, website wise. Should be a close game, if not an instant classic. Not sure I'd bet on us beating anyone by more than a touchdown, that's for sure.

I hope I’m wrong but this game almost feels like a trap game for us. We are feeling good about ourselves for the first time in almost 2 years. FSU is wounded animal in the corner right now.

I envision us getting beat by 10+ points, then having the bye week where Satt gets the guys recalibrated and we then rattle off several good games in a row.

Probably overthinking all this though.

Trap game for us naw. We were never favored to win it period. Outside of the 2 wins we have that pretty much was predicted any other win is house money.

I realize that traditionally a trap game refers to a favorite that could potentially overlook a team they are favored over. In this instance, I see two teams trending in opposite directions but I’m afraid this game could be a temporary shift in that trend line. We are gonna have a setback somewhere and my concern is that this week sets up for that setback.

I just didnt see us winning it regardless of how FSU is playing.they have like 36 or 40 or more 4 star or 5 stars on that roster. They just out talent us this year sometimes talent wins over coaching .

But this was also true the 63-20 year. Again, this speaks to the so called “star” system and it’s inherent weakness. I’m thinking that coaching, or a lack thereof, has been more of an effect the past two season on this game from both sides rather than the respective talent levels. If predictions were strictly based on coaching then THE UofL would be favored hands down.

The only scenario in my opinion for U of L to win is getting up by a couple TDs or so. Causing team turmoil with FL.St like the cards did last year once adversity hit went down hill maybe this can happen.

I do feel it’s an uphill battle for the Cards to come out of Tallahassee with a W but I just watched the FSU-UVA game and have some observations.
First, FSU played well at times, won’t deny that, but they also seem very undisciplined on defense. They overran several plays and, more than that, they had five personal foul penalties in just the fourth quarter. Seems they are being over-aggressive and I believe CSS will try to exploit that.
Second, one of their best DBs (Samuels, I think) left the game in the fourth quarter with what seemed to be a significant shoulder injury (caused by one of his one men trying to play through him, again, over-aggressive) so he may not be available. He was replaced by a true freshman who was then promptly exposed by the UVA QB. Then, two plays later he was ejected for targeting, so he’s gone for the first half of our game.
The FSU defense hasn’t been great so far and they continue to hurt themselves with this aggressiveness. I think we may have the advantage when our offense is on the field. The coaching advantage is also ours. The key to the game will be our defense vs Blackmon and Akers. I must also acknowledge the fact that FSU never quit in this game. Hats off to them for their heart.

If we can run the ball and complete enough passes to keep them from stacking the box, the game is winnable. If we can't run the ball,I think it's going to be a long game for us. We need to find ways to get Dez and Seth involved to take off the pressure. Tutu can't carry us every game.

Appreciate you trying to be a contributor. I have always been treated with nothing but respect in Jax by FSU fans, and always enjoy the good-natured bantor. Excuse the thin-skinned types. Football is a great excuse to socialize, regardless of team affiliation, but some on here forget that.

I completely agree with this.

We blasted those 40 or so 4* players with Lamar, beat them at Doak Walker the next year, gift wrap and gave them the game last year, I don't think it's going to make a difference. We have enough talent to beat them, we just have to put it together and play a ball controlled game with no turnovers.

Buddy I hope you are right. At this point, I'm happy with what I've seen so far, especially in regards to the effort of the defense. I'm just keeping it in perspective that we're 2-1 and pretty much everyone expected to be 2-1 at this point. Down or not, beat FSU at Doak is far more impressive than lernin' EKU or soundly beating WKU in front of 78 people in Nashville. If the Cards beat FSU this year, I think 6-6 or maybe even 7-5 becomes the expectation as down as the ACC is. Also, if FSU loses, I think Willie is gone before the end of the season as FSU will FARRRR that sonofabeyitch.

I also agree with your point about ball control and lack of turnovers. Fundamental and cliche, but I completely agree with you. FSU defense is apparently very bad and if the Cards can run the ball effectively they should be able to control this game. Need to get ahead early and stay there, keep it on the ground.

Time of Possession
Boise St - 40:03
Florida ST - 19:57

Virginia - 39:44
Florida St - 20:16

FSU has been terrible with time of possession. They run a hurry up offense with their new OCoordinator, but can't sustain drives. Defense has been gassed in both losses. That's why I think our ability to run the football and control time of possession is important. We are still going to have to complete passes to keep their defense from sitting 8 in the box. I'm looking forward to the game.

Only 3 games removed from the debacle that was last season, seems kinda low to me. Not enough has been done this season to think that spread would be anything less than 12-13. Yet....

Successful misdirection plays on offense and discipline on defense is going to be crucial if the Cards have any chance of pulling off the upset.
