Fun fact from yesterday’s game that is pretty enlightening

11:37 minutes into the first half, Mason Gillis hit a 3-pointer. In the remaining 29:23 of the game, Purdue players not named Edey scored a total of one FG, a two pointer with 11:23 remaining in the game. To say the Purdue offense was reduced to being one-dimensional for almost 3 quarters of the game might be an understatement.

Wow. Good find. By my quick count the rest of the team went 1-21 FG shooting the rest of the game. From then Edey had 7 FGs and 9 FTs for 23 points. Entire rest of the team I believe was 1-21 FG and 7-9 FT for a grand total of 9 points. Yes we locked them down. You could also say that Edey got no help from the rest of his squad after the first 11 mins and change. He had 6 turnovers on the game, the rest of the team 10 for 16 total.

Great defensive effort. But that’s a surprising stat.

Now that was a stat that I had not seen. I knew that all not named Edy only had one basket in the second half but did not realize that it was also true for the last 11 minutes plus of the first half as well.

That does not bode well for Purdue in the NCAA tournament.

But then again, not every team has a Nicholson to physically prevent Edey from bulling his way to the basket. The teams that do (and play tough defense) can beat Purdue. We didn't even play well on offense.

My favorite fun fact from yesterday is that over the last 40 minutes of the game, NU outscored Purdue 64-58.

The OP was my second favorite fun fact.

That's the key to beating them, are the others guys have to score with defenders on them. Purdue struggles
