My whole life, even when the teams were bad, there was always STILL excitement heading into the next season, whether that be incoming players, or a new coach, there is ALWAYS excitement going into the next season. However if this season ends the way it has been going so far, what do we look forward to next year, no incoming star recruits, and outside of the freshman im not even sure I love the idea of trent and kam returning, so how do I even get pumped up when schools like duke have the highest hope with nba players. So what do we have

Don't buy the HYPE, demand better results than years past.

The hope for a Cal coached team, from year to year became a numbing experience. It alone made me not follow UK basketball as close as I do now.
you know its funny for me because it was the opposite, i havent been able to get up for these last 2 seasons

Pope is a fresh face.

He should intrigue your mind.

In year one, he managed to make it as far as Cal starting over at Arkansas in the ncaa tourney.

Not saying, oh we shoulda kept Cal. I was tired of watching the hype every year only to be disappointed towards the end of his last 5 years coaching.

Cal was players first, team results second. I want to believe this is reversed with Coach Pope.

If Cal thought a guy was good enough to make the NBA, I believe he would help them make it regardless of how well the team performs, especially in hi stakes ncaa tournaments....just get through the season and he helped the guys get set for life in the NBA.

Not saying its a bad thing for a coach to do, to help a player achieve their dreams but, if you're a die hard college ball fan. You live for winning games.

We play Loyola MD on Friday:
KY 97
LOYOLA 69

They are playing Duquesne right now on ESPN+ and it looks like they may drop to 2-4.

I would not be surprised if this game, has some hiccups....especially if the drama is true that is going around on the forum.

Don't look at any game as a easy win, think about that evansville game years ago...

Season just started… Even though I’m not thrilled with the team play so far, I’m not looking to next year already. 💩’s a lil runny right now, let’s see if it can harden up 🤔
Are we saying we should hope for a turd instead of the runs? It's still **** either way!

If Pope comes back for another year it’s going to be difficult watching him squirm around in the offseason, especially if the whole team leaves due to turmoil, picking up 2nd and 3rd tier transfers that only mid-major and lower power conference teams wanted.

Honestly, Pope really looks like he’s in over his head more than any coach I’ve seen since BCG during the last few weeks before he was fired. Just watching him talk and his body language does not inspire confidence. It’s hard to imagine him wanting to stick around if this disaster continues spiraling out of control. He simply does not have the experience nor the knowhow to weather this storm.

This is more than just being a mediocre team with mediocre results now. Continuing the Pope tenure into another season would be utter negligence on Mitch Barnhart’s part. We’re beyond on-the-court performance if we have team members fighting each other. That’s inexcusable for a prestigious program like Kentucky.

Same way we did this off season into this season. No stars coming in. Returners who weren’t stars. Portal players who were number four options on last teams. That’s basically what we just did and everyone was pumped!

Until I see Pope getting better talent, I’m not going to get as hyped as I was for this season. I didn’t look up what these guys were rated when they signed with UK but he’s missed on some major guys in the portal and with high school recruiting. If I had realized that, I wouldn’t have listened to this talk comparing this team to be like having a “blue Ferrari” like I heard in an interview before the season.

Already panicking about next season?

I’ll give it to some of you. RRs has a pretty bad reputation for how absurd the posters are, yet some of you keep out-absurding the reputation.

If we’re dealing with fighting and bickering among the team how do you expect the same staff to deal with a whole new group of players? We’re supposed to be confident in a staff who appears incapable of dealing with any sort of diversity and we’re supposed to think that things will magically change next year?

Many of us were afraid Pope didn’t have the demeanor to handle Kentucky when he was hired and those people appear to be more right than wrong right now.

With the NIL it's about like watching Cal without as much talent. The whole roster gets flipped for the most part, just like with the one and dones. I don't blame the kids though. Most are not going to the NBA and need to look out for themselves and their families and maximize their earnings. I'm sure that is what Perry did.

Maybe we will get to see Pope running down a hallway with a reporter trailing him

Pope seems like a good guy, I don’t wish that upon him. I hope for his sake that he gracefully exits the program and not struggle to throw together another whole new team in the offseason that likely won’t be up to Kentucky’s standards like the last two seasons.

When I look at these numbers I’m surprised more people weren’t worried about this current team: 16th ranked recruiting class, Portal rankings: Lowe 36th, Williams 42nd, Aberdeen 56th, and Dioubate 62nd

When comparing that to some of these other teams, that doesn’t make me feel like we have the talent we’ve been lead to believe. I hope someone can make me feel different about it and I hope I’m looking at this wrong. I don’t follow recruiting close anymore but by these rankings no wonder Louisville destroyed us. They had way more talent when you look at those same rankings.

I didn’t think that I would ever apply this to Pope and his staff, but it appears that he’s trying to “fake it, until you make it”, and that simply is not going to get passed BBN and the Bennies!

Pope cares deeply. He said it will get turned around and I believe him. Recognizing the problems through objective findings is the first step. That’s what the non conference preseason is for. New team and he might just have too many players that are capable. Giving them all floor time to sort it out and then make appropriate changes. He’s got 2 of his top 5 out injured. Big pieces.

He takes the losses hard. I like that. Pope’s in a learning curve that all coaches stepping up to an elite program face. Look at Bama football. I think he was biting his tongue post game in public not to say what he truly felt about effort. Bet he can’t believe some of his players don’t feel the same about the front of the jersey as he did and does. Weed them out.

He’s smart and will figure it out and get it fixed.

Surprised at how many UK fans bail so early and take the early losses so personally. Makes me wonder how many actually played team sports. We that did all went through bad steaks but were on teams that finished strong. Reminds me of one of my son’s HS football years where they as 2 time defending champs lost 4 in a row to start the season. Fans ready to fire the staff and jump off a bridge. Figured it out, made some changes and ended up winning out. I remember sitting next to a couple “super”UK fans screaming Tony Delk was a wasted scholarship after he missed a couple 3s early in his career. He got better.. right?

If you’re a parent you understand young people stumble but most learn more from those missteps than getting praised all the time. We as parents continue to support but they have to make their own personal adjustments.

UK bball is like a soap opera. Lots of drama. Hang in with the team and get rewarded. Those that have bailed and whine 5 games in at 3-2 see you next year. Relax by taking the rest of the year off and support your local HS team or small college. It’s a journey. UK’s hit a bump.

Our 96 and 98 champs lost early to good teams but changes were made and guess what… teams improve over the course of the season.

Personally, I think losing early can be a good thing. Like to see it to expose the weaknesses no matter how ugly and put the fear of God into the players. They will listen more closely and focus more knowing they aren’t part of the elite teams at this point. Ground to make up. Lineup changes are easier to make now. Attitudes change or they don’t contribute. Coaches can get tougher and practices harder. You’re either in or out.

Take a deep breath and do what you would like someone to do for you if you stumbled.
Don't give up the ship so early.

Man you are a real happy soul. Do you think about eating a bullet for supper every night? You are so far off base with your comments, that it’s just ridiculous.
