What a stud. Doing everything right. Proud of him for being a junk yard dog.
Seems like the situation this summer has really lit a fire in him. I think he’s going to be a real threat at 174 next year
what if he....didn't wait until the 3rd?McEnally really tough to takedown like Ferrari. Just get one blast double leg in 3rd Gabe and the roof will come off Carver.
I just don’t like that thinking- too many guys trying to keep it close and hope for a takedown late in the third or OT.McEnally really tough to takedown like Ferrari. Just get one blast double leg in 3rd Gabe and the roof will come off Carver.
I think it would be safer to protect in the 3rd. McEnally is fairly conservative against top wrestlers but when he opens up he is very good at single legs or counter wrestling so leaving little time for him to comeback.what if he....didn't wait until the 3rd?
Assuming Endene is gone for good, then Gabe is clearly the best option, over Sampson or pulling Ludington's shirt. Ludington is still a good prospect, but he's not ready for the big time this year. Sampson is a black hole. No fault of his own, of course. Not everyone is an elite hammer and no one expected that of him. Gabe at 197 would at least beat the pigeons and probably qualify for NCAAs, and this season counts against his eligibility either way, so it seems like the way to go when Ferrari is back. How good exactly he would do is up in the air. He was only a non-AA NQ at 184 last year. I'd expect about the same as a 197 this year, so not really a difference maker, but he would get you something at the weight at least.Whats everybody think? Is 97 too much for him if he puts on a few pounds? He did beat a couple of lower ranked fellas at 97 at the civil war but not sure how he could do with the top 15. Im sure it would be better than Brody.
Its not as entertaining but the best against the best from 74 on up play it this way. They have a plan for a takedown late with their best shot. Most of the best can defend shots so do you want to risk using up most your energy with small chance of points.I just don’t like that thinking- too many guys trying to keep it close and hope for a takedown late in the third or OT.
Why can’t Gabe take him down in the first? Don’t get me wrong, your plan is incredibly more likely, but it’s a bad mindset.
Id have to guess unless he does well at Big Ten tourney, he doesn't get a very good seed at Nattys. Fortunately, BT is kinda weak at 97 after Barr. If he was to pull out a victory over Geog or McDaniel in the semis, could get a decent enough seed to win first two rounds and see what happens in blood round.Assuming Endene is gone for good, then Gabe is clearly the best option, over Sampson or pulling Ludington's shirt. He's never been short on attitude... lest we forget all the times he beat Star after calling him out.Gabe said him and McEnally became friends over the summer. Also said we have history referring to last year and believes he has a plan to win Friday. Love his attitude.
Has anyone thought about having Ferrari go 197?
If you find yourself alone all of the time and are wondering why it's probably because you're such a negative dude. He's never been short on attitude... lest we forget all the times he beat Star after calling him out.
That seems like a dumb idea. Ferrari is one of the favorites with a good chance to win at 184, but very little chance as an undersized 197, so you’re rearranging the lineup to minimize the best chance you have to win a title. If it were potentially the difference for winning the team title, maybe, but let’s be real, it’s not.Has anyone thought about having Ferrari go 197?
We did, but he's wrestling heavyweight for Nebraska.Has anyone thought about having Ferrari go 197?
Well to be fair, we're not going to be finishing any higher the next few years either....Gabe's eligibility is ticking, let him have 197. He is going to be at a reach size disadvantage, but he seems to be the best option. Please don't burn Lud's shirt on a garbage year fighting for team 2nd or 3rd.
S*** the way it sounds Angelo is sitting in that exact chair wheeling around. Jebus Tom.
He not even a big 184.Has anyone thought about having Ferrari go 197?
How do you know these things to be true?He is certainly questionable for the post season, so Gabe might get his chance...exchange on the edge with Welch messed up his foot/ankle. Hoping for the best. Also, the Mo story seems to be about a demand for more money, not conflicting doctor opinions....That said, I think the Brands are doing best than possibly can while still maintaining a culture of buy into the Program, you are NOT the program. Most coaches say in these two situations they would have made the same decisions. That said, a Snyder, Pritzlaff, Rutherford, Nolf, Hidlay, on staff to work "differently" with some of the athletes...having a younger assistant on staff that can relate to some athletes could actually prevent the Mo or Bo situations before they escalate....
They are not true. He knows this much. Do you consider wanting what was promised as wanting more money? How do you know these things to be true?
Or he could get pinned again in Consi Round 3Its not as entertaining but the best against the best from 74 on up play it this way. They have a plan for a takedown late with their best shot. My sources say medical redshirt then transferWill Ferrari come back this year? Or would he have to apply for a medical? Can he still qualify for a medical?
Would hope to have a healthy Ferrari in the post Season for 4 years! If he broke something or is too banged up I hope that he can get a medical and have Gabe wrestle.
They give away medicals more and more easily, but this one is unlikely under the current format. Will Ferrari come back this year? Or would he have to apply for a medical? Can he still qualify for a medical?

How did you know?! I am a descendant of a sea warrior. My sources say you’re a moran
Agreed. I get tired of watching matches like that. This is the **** you get when everyone is wrestling tight and feeling like their life is judged based on a wrestling matchI just don’t like that thinking- too many guys trying to keep it close and hope for a takedown late in the third or OT.

You must not have listened to Gabes interview thenIf Gabe can beat Sampson (a good bet) why not have him do it. No downside. But reading between the lines at Tom’s last presser it sounded to me like Gabe wasn’t excited about wrestling up.
Taking the freestyle approach. Don't worry about scoring until you have to. That's a bad way to wrestle.I just don’t like that thinking- too many guys trying to keep it close and hope for a takedown late in the third or OT.

Pretty standard with the top wrestlers in ncaa meeting top wrestlers. There's a few outliers like Mendez or Messinbrink but they are just way above everyone in their weightWelcome to Iowa style![]()
