Galt House donation

U of L announced Wednesday afternoon that the Galt House has committed $3.5 million to the Cardinal Athletic Fund. The money will be used to renovate and expand the Kueber Center, and the football suite levels on the east and west sides of Cardinal Stadium will now be known as The Galt House Hotel Suite Level.

It really is a big deal especially during these down economic times from a hospitality corp whom really are struggling for business.

While certainly appreciated, this donation is 0.4% of the annual athletics budget.

And since the revenue is evidently benefiting U of L basketball, it represents a little more than 10% of the funds that have been CUT annually from men's basketball the last three years.

They were scheduled to reopen the renovated version August 27th.

The new name is The Swizzle. The revolving floors and the view are unchanged. New furniture and yadda, yadda, etc.

The could have left it alone.
