with Houston batting B4. Cougars had a two run homer in the first and a two out RBI single in the third.

Sooners have only had 12 batters in four innings at the plate. One hit by Knighten to lead off the 2nd, but erased on a double play. Houston has six hits off Parker in four innings.

Headed to T5 with Knighten leading off.

OU finally got on the board in T5 but left a runner at third stranded with one out. Wodach, who still has not hits this season, was the third out. Parker got them out in the fifth, so 3-1 headed to T6.

T6 Sooners tie it with two runs. Bunt single by Arnold. Moved up on a passed ball and scored Pendley's single to center. Romero doubled with one out and moved to 3rd on Knighten's run scoreing single. But with two on and one out, Aviu lined to third and Hatfield grounded to third. 3-3 after five and a half.

Cougars go in order in B6. Headed to the 7th 3-3.

Sooners go in order in T7, in the bottom half, the Cougars get the winning run to second with two outs, but Parker gets out of the inning with an intentional walk and a pop to short center. 3-3 headed to extra innings.

They are apparently using the old softball rule from two decades ago, and placing the last batter of the previous inning at second with no outs to start each inning.

Clifton and Romero started the eighth with back to back doubles and OU leads 5-3 with nobody out and Romero at second with no outs, knocking the Cougar starting pitcher out of the game..

Sooners add two more for four total in T8. The third run scored on Dalton's two out single to left, and then Aviu scored on an errant throw by their catcher, throwing it into center try to throw the ball back to the pitcher.

Cougars get the auto runner and then a one out homer to cut the lead to 7-5, plus one more two out single, but Parker gets a strike out to end it. The second game will be in 30 minutes. The Sooner radio broadcast had the power go out with two outs and the tying run at the plate. But got back on for the post game.

Plank probably stepped on the wrong cord.

Those are the international rules for extra innings. But, they usually don't start until the ninth inning. If nobody scores, they put two runners on base.

They started earlier because they're trying to get all the games in. Thankfully, both teams are playing each other back to back, so no advantages. Both placed runners scored. OU scored four in the eighth and UH scored two.

Lopez retires the Cougars in order in B8, leaving the placed runner at second and the Sooners win 2-1. Lopez caught a screamer up the middle for the first out, got a pop out and then a strike out to end the game against Houston's 1-2-3 hitters in the batting order.

So OU's goes 4-0 for the weekend. This was a big day in the team's improvement. Lopez really came through in the night cap.

This was the first back to back extra inning games for OU in five years. Now 6-2 for the season, heading to the very competitive Mary Nutter Classic next weekend in Palm Springs.

BTW, one of the assistant coaches at UHouston longtime Sooner dugout resident, Jessica Shultz. So I suspect their pitching staff had some pretty good insights about how to pitch to Sooner hitters.

OK. So, we weren't pretty this weekend. It could have been worse.

---#1 Florida lost to 0-8 Maryland, a team that had been run-ruled four times in their eight losses. Maryland 4 Florida 2

--#4 Alabama finally left Tuscaloosa to venture to Louisiana, winning the first of three against Louisiana-Lafayette, 3-0. Then, they proceeded to lose the next two, 2-11 and 0-7.

#6 Michigan lost their third already, 4-6 to Notre Dame.

Yeah, going 4-0 while playing ugly, including a sweep Sunday of the hosts, is a solid performance.

We do have some hitters that need to get it going, especialy the newbies.
