Game 3 - UK v. USC

We are in the top of the 5th at Cliff Hagan Stadium and UK is down 2-1. Not a bad showing so far. Nelson getting his second start of the year. Still not sure what is wrong with Kyle Cody.

Things get ugly in the 5th and Carolina opens it up 5-1. An error by Shelby plated 2. Nelson is taken out of the game. Combs coming in to stop the bleeding.

5-3 in the bottom of the 7th. UK still has a couple runners on base and USC is going to a new pitcher. Got a good chance to cut into the lead a bit more.

New pitcher came in with an 2-0 count and worked a full count against Barrett before striking him out looking. That ended the inning and we stranded the tying runs. Still, UK was able to get a couple back and we're within striking distance.

Lost 8-3 but still, a very impressive series v. the no. 1 team. Gets the Cats back into the middle of the SEC at least.

I will certainly take that. Not the best showing today, but still an amazing weekend for us.

Kyle Cody pitched in relief ( 1 batter ) Saturday. Announcer said he had experienced tightness in his arm, and Hendo was being careful not to rush him back. I think he will gradually see more and more action, either out of the pen, or maybe back in the rotation.
