I have to assume at this point that AJ Turner is dealing with some kind of an injury, and they’re holding him out of these games. Even if it is a small one, no sense in taking a chance with it. If that’s the case.

Tough shooting night for Greer. Wasn't he almost a 50% 3pt shooter his Sr year in HS?

I'm assuming that too.

Without reading too much into a meaningless game against sketchy competition, Boo had a good game it seems. If he solidifies that Lead Guard spot, that would be a huge boost. And Miller Kopp can be The Man for us this year.

Well, eight man rotation. Let’s see:

LG: buie, greer
Wing: Kopp, beran, nance, spencer
Big: Jones, young

Basically one sub at each position. So, hope nobody fouls out or gets hurt.

Hopefully Nance is ready to start or get starters minutes. Although he still needs strength.. he has the length.. just needs to learn to mix it up inside at this level. Not easy task.. but always hope. I hope his 3s fall wgen he is outside. That would get him going.

Uh, Turner and Gaines will be in that rotation by the beginning of the season.

Yes, those 2 will have major minutes. And I suspect Spencer will see some time at lead guard if he shows he can handle it.
Agreed. For people like Gaines and Turner, these foreign tour games are meaningless, but they are critical for a guy such as Spencer who is transitioning from another sport. More and more, I get the feeling that how Spencer performs this season may determine whether we have a terrible season or a respectable one...

Yup. Spot on from my perspective.
The big issue for that line-up will be creating shots. We know nothing about Boo. But Kopp, Nance and Turner are all spot-up shooters. Who can create off the dribble? Gaines seems to be the only candidate.

Hopefully someone has improved in the off season.

I gotta admit, I'm getting more and more intrigued by Spencer. Granted, this is just playground ball, but he's been impactful in all three games.

Cuz they don’t need to get a feel or chemistry playing with any of their teammates.

Well, Gaines is hurt, so it's a moot point.

I suspect both kids will practice with their teammates before November to get a feel for their chemistry..........

Doesn’t Gaines have dreaded foot injury? And do you have any idea what injury is holding turner out of every game?

Yep. My guess is the starters will be Boo, Turner, Kopp, Nance and Young. Gaines will get 25 minutes/game.

Jones might be as good as or better than Young. Spencer is a sleeper, and Nance will be an important contributor.

I’m with you. Hopefully he gets better at the line, though. 7 for 12 in the two published boxes.

I think it is going to be a pretty challenging season for a very young team. There is some talent there, but it will need to mature and develop a lot in order to avoid first day action in the BTT.

Jones should be better. He is rather well regarded. Young was expected to be a project.

Think it's been reported that Gaines did not make the trip.

I’m w Webb here though admittedly unsure. I thought we saw pictures of Gaines on the trip. That said, with his foot injuries and the walking involved, it would not be a great idea. Still, he’s not going pro and this is a lifetime type trip. I would be pissed to be excluded.

So he's there, good for him. Can't pass up France and Italy! Still seem to remember a posting that said he was staying home due to an injury. Obviously wrong but wasn't that said at one time?

If we end up with a solid 10-man rotation come the season, that’s a good thing.

Even the Dukes of the world end up with 7 or 8 man rotations, though their bench is stocked with 4 and 5 stars. Barring injuries, we could have a pretty decent 8 man rotation. With both Gaines and Turner already sidelined at the moment, the challenge is to stay healthy.

That lacrosse guy is a dunking fool. Even Miller Kopp is amazed.

I know I'm not writing anything new.

There's this thing is sports where a guy has the talent but isn't sure if he should attempt the play in a game that he's used to doing back home.

Some guys just have it. Some take a while. And some never develop the confidence to go with their abilities.

To quote Doug Collins, Pat Spencer is a m----r f----r. Pat has it. You're not the best lacrosse player in the country and you don't have it. Guys on the other team are going to have to stop him because he's ballin' and could really give two ***** who's defending him.

It may not work for him in the big ten. That's as elite as it gets. But it won't be for a lack of confidence or trying.
