Worst FT shooting in college basketball history by Neb (I believe announcers mentioned this), but a win is a win and we still showed some good things. Neb also kept hitting key 3's to stay in the game and we bounced back in OT.

1. Spence. Did what he does, warrior as always, some nice athletic plays and a couple beautiful passes. Also a few times he tried to do too much but arguably our MVP based on his leadership.

2. Buie. His floater is almost like a layup for him, its crazy. If he can get his 3 pt shot to start falling he'd be dangerous. Plays with swagger even as a frosh and even when things aren't falling--never puts his head down. Off-season to get stronger and work on some explosion will be great. This is his team next year.

3. Kopp. Obviously a great 3 pt shooter. If he gets consistent with his fake, 1 dribble drive to the mid-range baseline shot he will be very tough to guard as defenses won't be able to close out as hard.

4. Nance. Playing aggressive. Not super quick but he is a huge mismatch if he gets his game together.

5. Young. Along with Buie's floaters and Kopp's face-up 3's, Young's one on one moves are the only reliable offense I see. When he gets better at kicking out when he's doubled and we hit those open 3s, it'll be a thing of beauty.

6. Jones. Good athlete, nice defense, can put the ball in the basket at times. A lot of upside but still raw.

This team really has kept battling despite a difficult season. The pieces are there, but a lot has to come together. Buie, Nance, Kopp having breakthrough off-seasons would help. Berry being the real deal and of course staying healthy.

Just thinking he needs to get a lot more minutes. Also Spencer and Buie need to stop dribbling into traffic and give up the ball sooner.
Next year he will. Earlier this year he was getting a lot of fouls early which would keep him from getting many minutes bat as the season went on he got better and was able to stay on the floor more

Our FT defense was outstanding

I haven't seen Buie a lot so very likely I am wrong with this comment. My impression is that his dribbling mechanics need a little work. A basic in dribbling is to shield the ball from the defender either by distance or using your body. Buie exposes the ball a lot and tends to dribble a little high. Can get away with that with slower high school players but not so much in the Big Ten. Not hard to correct and likely as the season has progressed he has gotten better.

they are the only guys who can break down the defense at all. Its worth the risk cause if they don’t attack then nobody ever gets open.

They’d probably have more success driving if our opponents had to worry about our three point threat. As it is, collapsing on them isn’t much of a risk as long as you keep a guard on Kopp.

agree, Kopp is the only major threat from 3. It Beran has the stroke. The two of them could be great big wing shooters for Buie, Berry and when Young gets doubled underneath.

Beran has a very nice stroke. But he does not have the confidence to move into receiving a pass in a motion preparing to shoot. He rarely does that. Without it, he's too slow to be able to get a shot up.

Next year, hope it's a different story. Would be outstanding if he had a Kopp-like evolution.

CCC deserves a LOT of credit for keeping this team together during all the losing. Heavy lifting indeed. I didn't think they'd win another game.

Basketball is often finding a way to win close games. NU has been searching for that effort all season and finally found it against Nebraska. Too bad it couldn't have happened earlier in the season, but it finally happened and it might lift this team into another W or two before the season ends.

i don’t think it’s a coincidence we can do it against the only team that is not notably more talented. But I do hope the confidence boost will carry us to another win.

Kopp is a 100% guy....no lapses...he moves from offense to transition to defense to transition to offense and never makes a slip.....fully engaged, emotionally under control,, making appropriate plays, his basketball brain is always on.......

I hoped for Jones to earn a starting position, but I’ve been really pleased with his development. He’s gone from lost to fitting in. He’s got a good chance to be productive in 8 months. I like his potential a lot.

This team has come close many times this year, but hasn't finished. We were sitting on some decent leads with 3 minutes or so left in the game on several occasions but lost. Against Neb, it took historically bad free throw shooting by them to allow us to actually win, but I think this team is close to be pretty decent. Gives some hope for next year.
