Northwestern (13-14, 6-12 Big Ten) goes on the road to Iowa City to play No. 24 Iowa (20-8, 10-7 Big Ten)

Iowa is missing Patrick McCaffrey tonight.
They have a short frontcourt, topping out at 6'9" in their top 10 players.
Their rebounding margin is as bad as ours.

But they play their bigs together and we don't.

So... the formula for NU should be pretty simple... Go Big. Control the boards. Win the game.

I’d just like to give a shout out to Buie’s hair. Excellent all season.

So far, this game feels like the Harlem Globetrotters versus the Washington Generals. :(

Only eight minutes in, but this is the worst I’ve seen us play the entire year. Zero energy. Zero shooting. Zero everything.

Well at least we are consistent. Can't shoot and turn the ball over every 3 times down the court.

Iowa is not even playing well. Shot 35% in the half and leads by 19. Says a lot about NU’s terrible play.

Truly the worst Iowa has played in the last couple of weeks and they’re still up by 19. Our worst effort in quite a long time. Boo or not, this is an absolute embarrassment.

Not sure I agree we quit. Iowa averages 79.7 in conference play and has 36. Allows 73.4.

What is absolutely shocking is the lack of maturity this team has on offense. The first possession with Audige at the point, after sick Buie sat down, he takes a step back three 5 seconds into the shot clock. So many stupid examples, but that, for me, illustrates how anarchist our offense is.

That’s coaching.

When you’re a team that has no confidence or mental toughness, like the majority of Collins teams, I imagine you just get to a point where you want the season to be over.

We’re so bad I keep expecting Jason Okrzesik to check into the game.

I looked up the roster from his senior year. A 1-17 conference record. But Craig Moore, Coble, and Juice would give it to this current team, right?

Ok to blame Collins for not holding these guys more accountable, but Audige is the real problem here on offense. He just doesn’t run the offense and of course makes bad decisions. Collins is apparently not able to sit him, I surmise largely because he feels as though he needs his defense. It’s a no-win situation when you don’t have the guys behind him and he’s not the answer. Better players make coaches look better. But Collins could not get the ones he needed.

BTW - he used to have guys that ran and respected his offensive system. Hard to believe he forgot how to teach. But a fresh start seems like the only option at this point.

Keep in mind that there are still 2 more rock bottom moments incoming: losing to Minny on Senior Night and losing to them again at 2:30pm on a Wednesday with 17 people in attendance at the BTT

What a ridiculous statement. No way in hell 17 people will be at that game.

Our program has come full circle since Collins’ hire. Good time to let him go.
No, he has actually made the program worse than the one he inherited. Carmody's last team actually beat PSU.

And he did it without Crawford, Demps and Swopshire. No injuries to the last Collins team. The last 5 years of the Carmody reign? 17, 20, 20, 19, and 13 wins.

The last 5 of Collins? 15, 13, 8, 9 and 13.

Collins has plunged the program to depths below the Carmody era.

Okay, Buie was sick.
Apparently NU staff knew this before the game.
And yet when Bohannon got his technical foul, "somebody" told Buie to shoot the free throws.
He missed them both and left the game shortly thereafter, never to return.

I find that rather odd.

Thank god he left the game and Barnhizer actually got a few minutes this season. Seen enough of Buie.

This is a dumb take. Buie tries every night, and often takes good shots. Sometimes he takes bad shots. But he tries always.

Swopshire was a good player.

I couldn't bring myself to watch that last night, but I saw a highlight clip on ESPN of some Iowa team manager making a half-court shot and getting mobbed by the players. The clip made it seem like this took place during a timeout while the game was still going on. Is that true? If so, what the hell is that crap? I know we were already getting blown out at that point, but talk about disrespect of your opponent. I hope I misunderstood what happened there.

Ok... I found a little more on this story. While, on the one hand, it is a nice story and a special moment for this kid, on the other hand, I feel like it is a way of telling your opponent that you are not worth considering anymore and so we are moving on to our own thing. It's both cool and disrespectful.
