Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Washington

Wildcats after dark! Northwestern (13-10, 4-8 Big Ten) is on the road and on the West Coast to play Washington (11-11, 2-9 Big Ten). The game is set for a 9:30 pm CT tip off and will air on BTN.

The Wildcats will be without point guard Jalen Leach, who was ruled out on the pregame availability report.

In the absence of a seasoned combo guard, every team would spend 40 minutes full court pressing and double teaming if we did not play a PG? And we would fall apart?

We really only have two guards left, KJ and Berry. Positionless basketball, players callled “wings” be damned, we need another clear guard?

Not that I don’t find Hunger at 4 intriguing, but was not expecting this one either. Up is down? Left is right?

I wonder if this will be the lowest-rated big 10 game all season. Two worst (perhaps) teams. Small fan bases relative to others. Late Saturday night. Who is watching this besides we degenerates?

I guess Collins wants to keep fighting the good fight. Maybe he realizes next year will be a rebuilding year or maybe he doesn't want a founding B1G member to be out of the tournament the first year that's possible? I dunno, it's weird atm.

I'm sure he'll talk about it at the post-game presser.

Clayton’s three was the brickiest brick that ever bricked. I’ve never heard that sound in a basketball game.

I don’t see what some of you see with Clayton. Yeah, like Hunger he kind of looks the part. Mostly because his handles are solid. That’s not new, just like it’s not new that his shot does not even come close to looking like it’s going in.

Man the technical was predictable. Collins had been very aggressive with the refs for a while. But the quickness of the second and the ejection is just a “f*** you, who do you think you are? Tom Izzo you are not sir”.

Just a demonstration of where we are as a program in the mind of refs. No way Izzo, McCaffrey or Undie get ejected on this one. Or they’d be ejected every other game.

Seriously, that’s ridiculous.
But the thing I noticed was they had a policeman on the floor right behind Collins immediately.
Why?

I thought Windham looked pretty damned good out there.
Threw some great passes.
Stripped a guy about to dunk.
On one pass he was looking for Fitzmorris to go back door from the corner, Fitz starts that way, Windham whips the pass and Fitz stops to watch it go out of bounds. Great pass, Great vision. Fitzmorris wasn't clued in.

I am very excited for the +/- report.
Infinite new lineups.
Coach Collins and Coach Lowery will get their own +/-!!!!

Well....not too much but I just didn't like the meltdown. This game is winnable and you just gave the other team 6 points plus got yourself a one way ticket to the locker room.

The game is definitely winnable.
Collins was right to be upset about some of the no-calls on Martinelli, but come on, man, you just dumped a bag a crap on your assistant coaches.

I understand, but Collins was obviously trying to make a statement. He wasn't going to put up with that ref anymore. By the way, that ref Jeffrey Anderson is internet famous. He's known as "High Knees" and is universally hated because he's so bad.
