It says to me his first option is not open and he is making the decision not to throw it. Watching the games, very few drop backs are smooth running plays and it isn't because of bad coaching or play calling, it is inexperienced and lack of top level talent at skill positions running patterns.
Many ***** it is bad play calling to have him drop back. I disagree to an extent. When you roll a QB out, you lose 50% of the field. You have to have the diversity of pass plays unless you have extra talented QB and WR. We don't.
