GB is 'meh' in my book. The one thing I never understood is his accent. Listen to an interview and he's got almost no accent whatsoever. Listen to him sing and he's got this real thick country, hick accent with a slight yodel in there somewhere. Always thought he was 'doing an accent' when he sings just so he could be more 'country' than singing in his real voice (like Larry the Cable Guy does for his standup).
