I just watched a few recent Trent youtube videos. He is not real flashy, but makes space and can really score in bunches. He is kind of like Grayson in that he's tall, not very quick but is strong and plays hard nosed ball. Anyone know if he can defend?

It's funny how little we discuss this kid... other fanbases would be salivating over someone like this. We are spoiled.

We talk about him very seldom it seems like, and he's one of the best shooters in the class!!

You can't pump up incoming players here now. Everyone gets all butthurt and says yea well we were supposed to be great this year but look what happened. The injuries didn't matter and yadda yadda yadda. I think he's gonna be awesome, he pumps his teammates up big time and YES , he is a good defender. He's streaky, once he gets dialed in though he's tough. He and Wendell will be awesome.

Trent definitely hasn't been talked about. I like his size, believe he is a tough kid as well. Really think this is going to be a solid Duke team, and I think they will be hungry. I know of 2 returning guys that should want to kick some serious you know what. Really not giving a crap whether Duval comes or not. Yeah he's good, or so they say, but if he comes, he's the lucky one, not Duke

His backstory sounds like something you'd try and write in a novel. Plays tough and scrappy -- can't wait for him to play for Duke.

No Duke will def be the lucky one. No point guard, no chance.

It would be nice to have someone come in who is a pleasant surprise, like Grayson was. If Trent plays hard, is a good teammate, and STAYS HEALTHY, we'll all be happy.

Good post DD. All of the video I have seen on Trent is about his scoring ability, and it is very good. Seems to want the ball in his hands, which shows great confidence in his ability. Will really light things up in his time at Duke.
The only thing I can tell about his defense, is that he will make you pay if you get careless with the ball or your passes don't have any zip on them. He has a nose for the ball, and I really like the way he plays the floor when he is engaged in the game.
Go Duke!

Trent Jr. is the real deal. I feel pretty confident that, barring injury, he'll be a starter at the 2 or 3 (regardless of whether we land Duval or whoever else).

He'll be a clear starter if we don't get duval. We'll only have 4 guards on the roster with Grayson, McConnell and Goldwire the others possible. Duval just gives us the depth and playmaking we'll need to be a contender.

If Duval commits I agree Duval, Grayson and Trent. If Tucker comes in don't be surprised if he gets minutes bc he can really shoot the ball as a 6-7 wing.

Just interested to see how K uses Jack, Alex and JG.

If Jack can move his feet and D up a bit, he could be very versatile at the 3. He might have to trim some. I wonder his true height and weight.

If Tucker comes will be interesting to see a sophomore White and a freshman Tucker and who gets those minutes. If Tucker goes to Cuse then Jack White come on down! Trent is gonna be a stud this year!

Come now. You really expect Jack White to ever get real playing time?
Ok, I'm stickying this comment. It's sad that you don't have at least a little faith in your own players. He's 6'7 and showed he can shoot. He's got some athleticism. Most of all he is a mature, Duke first guy who deserves just an ounce of support from his own fans. I get questioning whether a guy like him will ever make a big difference in games, but what motivates you to be negative on your own team's board just for the hell of it?

I agree. One thing I noticed is Jack did not seemed rattled when he went into games this year. At all. And he has some skill.

Josh Is playing basketball for a living, right now!

I'm just smh at the state of basketball in the world right now. No way he should be getting paid to play basketball. I guess that's what Duke does for you. That should be a recruiting pitch..."we can get you to where you can make a living off playing basketball...even josh hairston is playing professionally"

Josh was nice in hs and has game....he just wasn't a great fit at Duke because of who was here....josh taking 7 or 8 shots would have taken shots from guys who we relied on....i also think he put on weight which hurt his skillset..imo

No man Josh Hairston was terrible. He was about 6'6, couldn't dribble, shoot, or jump. I just don't see what coach saw in him. Maybe it was for the class GPA

JOSH HAIRSTON started for Duke. He's the worst player in school history to have a scholarship. He must've paid off Coach K to get in the game. Jack is much better than him

No Josh is not the worst player in Duke history to have a scholarship. Not even close. How long you been a Duke fan. Besides why even mention who is the worst Duke player. Has no relevance at all. Just my honest opinion. OFC

Hairston was a top twenty 25 player coming into Duke and was on the USA basketball team. He seemed to gain weight when came to Duke. His conditioning was poor. He was undersized power foward. The type that usually went to Pitt. He was the anti Mason Plumlee. Hairston couldn't defend well or rebound.

Josh gave his all. That is enough for me and should be for every fan. He also played a big part in beating UK (SR. year?). How many studs on this board have ever helped Duke mens BB to a big win?

Back to the topic of Trent. I'm one that is liking the potential of this team and what I've heard about him is he's a tough and athletic kid that has good range. Really hope the team bonds well, because I think the talent is there
