Watching Luka struggle today against PSU, I wondered how he would stack up against Evan Eschmeyer. I actually think Esch was better. Had a much better post game.....Garza gets a lot of hustle points but Esch was a monster. Garza benefits from the 3 point shot which helps his scoring, and Esch wouldn't have been a factor outside. Also, Garza has benefited from a MUCH better supporting cast. Wieskamp, Bohannon, McCaffrey et. al. open things up for Garza, while Esch was pretty much 1 on 5 on offense with the pitiful NU teams of the day. Both are All Americans, but for my money Esch is the better player.

FWIW, Esch averaged 16.1 mpg, 8.9 rpm, 31 min/game and 1.2 blocks.
Garza is 17.8 pig, 7.2 rpg, 26.6 min/game and 1.2 blocks.

Esch wasn't expected to shoot 3s. The game has changed. Had he come up in the modern era, he would have had to develop that game and he probably could have.

I still remember seeing him getting around campus on crutches...

Are his kids old enough to play at NU? Will they?

Garza is healthy. And he probably won't play for 6 years
