Does our current KENTUCKY State tax on gas go toward roads or into the GENERAL FUND?
I don’t know

About 5% of it goes towards roads, 5% towards the production of King Andy’s 5 o’clock Happy Hour Cartoon Show, 20% goes towards “Education” (in the form of 10% for education department administrators salaries & 10% for gender studies in the Appalachia region) and the remaining 70% goes into the “general fund” which is legislative code for “pissing it away”.

Illinois does the same thing - it’s pretty much already predetermined where the dollars are going/went.

At least when Indiana did it is was temporary and helped with a lot of infrastructure/road improvements.

I mean, who has driven much in the last year? I have driven 1,100 miles. Will definitely be inquiring with my auto insurance company about cheaper rates. Not commuting anymore has been the 1 positive from this gigantic shitstain of a year.

Thanks for the replies.... i have a conservative reps that have been preaching the need for raising the tax for infrastructure needs..... You would like to believe people act in your best interest but it is hard anymore to come to that conclusion. Gimme gimme gimme.

Don’t call them conservative. They are republicans.

If they want more, just hang on to the 20+ billion we're subsidizing fossil fuels with. I think that's a perfect setup for a free market to work properly.

One big problem with the gas tax paying for roads is families like mine, who drive two hybrids, plus thinking of getting an electric vehicle next time I buy. There has to be some more equitable way for us to pay our share of the infrastructure charge.

Just send the state a check for what you think is fair. They will cash it.

Task.... you know it’s coming for EV/Hybrid owners.... But government don’t wanna scare owners and potential owners off the technology.... Yet😁

That's already being studied over the last 2-3 years in KY ... whenever the legislature eventually/ultimately passes a bill to address the Road Fund shortfall. Call it what you want, mileage based user fee (MBUF), vehicle miles traveled (VMT), or fee road usage charges (RUC) ... lot of states have addressed this already.

It has to be done and frankly the legislature needs to get off of its backside and modernize the tax code anyway but I'm willing to pay my fair share. Already do and then some I can assure you

The Fed subsidy for EV's should be taxed as income by KY & used for the roads.
