I know, I know. I really don’t want to do this but my son is in the army and he’s coming home from Texas in June. His wife (and our new baby granddaughter!) as well as her family (grand total of 9 adults and 2 babies) want to go. I’ve been googling the **** out of cabins and places to stay and it’s a bunch of overwhelming bs. Anyone have any recommendations of places to stay.
I’ve got the food covered as we’re having Papa John’s for every meal

I'd recommend this but with that many people it might not be the best option.

I hear the Papa John's is fabulous.
Freaking hilarious, Glenn.

edit: it’s been way too long but we had a chalet up in the mountains and it was the ****. My parents go yearly I believe, the cabin they usually rent up in the mountains got burned down by the fires couple years back. Whoever owned it, rebuilt it and they went not too long ago. It was eerie seeing some of the pics of foundations of homes that were charred black and never got rebuilt.

I prefer going down there to camp at Elkmont to renting a cabin. JMO. When women and children are involved obviously I get it, they want accomodations and distractions. I want nature and relaxing.

Look for the quarter machines at the Indian place and spend every quarter you got (save enough though to get that papa John’s pizza one night...it’s freaking amazing).

Only grifters, scofflaws, and chiselers go to Texas on purpose voluntarily. Whatever scheme Austin has you swept up in cannot possibly end well. Bring plenty of ammo and always have at least a half a tank of gas.

I can sell you some bags of gas. Just toss 'em in the tank like a Tide Pod.

I wouldn't do an annual trip or anything, but walking around downtown Gatlinburg is a rush of nostalgia, man. Like hopping in a time machine.

It’s generally not my thing, but I’m a total mark for the sheer tackiness of the Gatlinburg experience.

Agree. I hate everything about the area but somehow still enjoy the nostalgia

Can't even imagine how many hours young bbi spent in the neverending traffic hell of pf/Gatlinburg wondering if we were ever getting there.

I live in Lebanon Junction buddy. Just a hop skip away from the most awesome flea market there in Bullitt county. Pretty much the same as gatlinburg. Hell there’s even river tubing and go carts and mini golf another mile up the road

When I die and go to hell, it is certain to look a lot like G-Burg/P Forge . . . or possibly Nicholasville Road near Fayette Mall at Christmas. Either would not surprise me in the least.

I thought I'd died and went to hell, turns out it was just Shively...
I hear that Shively actually has a better class of sexual predators than other areas in Louisville like Portland. I hear in Shively you at least get Sbarro or chicken wings for foreplay but in Portland....a knife to the neck is standard without any sharing of chicken wings. Just bones in the floorboard.
