Saw a post on FB by a very diehard fan that GG has decommitted from UNC and is coming to USC. Not seeing it reported anywhere online though. Not sure if it was being reported locally. I’m assuming it’d be blowing up on here if so.

Supposedly UNC is treating him as decommitted and has offered someone in his place.

They already have taken another commitment. There is not a spot for him if he reclassifies. I'm sure they will make it work if GG really wants to go to UNC.

It's happening folks. Too bad L.P. star player from his former school didn't transfer here instead of Gonzaga. We would really have something going next year.

It would be monumental at this stage.

Definitely a huge pickup. If nothing else, just from the mental aspect. I'm somewhat reserved in what I really expect in terms of benefit, though. He's obviously a one-and-done, so he's not anyone you're going to build a program around. And with just a single one-and-done, I don't know if we have the talent around him for this to be a tournament team or anything like that. One player can make a huge difference, though, so well see. Paris better hope he lives up to all the expectations because then maybe he can turn it into something for recruiting other players. It's kind of like having Rattler in football this season. This is the golden opportunity for them to show what the offense can do with a good QB.

Agreed, our roster is relatively weak outside of GG (assuming he comes). A big year could create some positive momentum for other recruits. I'm a little skeptical of Paris but will be pulling like hell for him to succeed.

Hopefully it all works out. If he can singlehandedly lift us to the tournament, it'll show his mettle for sure. I guess I'm kind of jaded in that I'm mostly looking at it as arranged marriage. He wanted to reclassify to get the NBA as quick as possible. UNC didn't have space. We do. So he's coming here instead. But, that's not much different than any one-and-done situation anyway. They only play a year of college ball b/c they have to.

Also, I have to admit I am a bit curious why UNC chose to add Northwestern transfer Pete Nance as opposed to GG reclassifying and playing at UNC this year. Is it b/c UNC felt he wasn't physically ready for college ball yet? It seems to me like they would have made space for arguably the top player in his class. Or maybe, GG changed his mind and really wanted to play here AND also wanted to reclassify and play this year. Who knows?

Whatever the case, if he does end up here, it gets us some exposure and could help Paris build some momentum.

Not sure but I believe he was second-guessing his decision to go to UNC. You have to believe UNC would find a way to fit the #1 player in the country into this class. With NIL, I'm sure they have connections to businesses that would have paid his way for one year (or paying him extra $$'s for GG to pay for school.

His one and doneness is not obvious until he plays phenomenally at this level.
