We could not make it on time so was listening to Gibbons on the telecast until we arrived. When he was explaining Barr’s absence he said “during u23, Barr got dicked up…(then stumbled on the words apparently realizing what he said before saying again)….got dicked up.

just couldn’t get dinged up or nicked up into the sentence. Lol.

My wife got a big kick out of that. In all candor, listening to him have two aphasiac episodes makes me concerned if he's in the incipient stage of dementia.

I liked the comment. Just wish I wasn’t so dumb that I had to look up half the words you used. That being said, I hope Timmy isn’t going down that road.

Honestly, I didn't wish I know them. I'm an accountant, not a doctor and as much as I'd like to say I learned it from my wife (RN), I learned them the hard way (relatives). Sorry, didn't mean to be a big word blow hard, but I didn't want to be flip about the possibility either. Nobody should have to go through that-worse part is the beginning and you know there's a misfire, but it's not clear if it's dementia or just a "senior moment".

You’re not a blowhard at all. I was just joking about the shallowness of my lexicon. I had a grandmother that suffered mightily through Alzheimer’s. Sorry you’ve had that in your life too. Please try not to take anything I post seriously. Besides, I love learning new words. It makes me seem a little less dumb. Ha.

Mine made to 97 clear (baked bread from scratch the same Autumn she turned 97) but then it was "what time is it" repeatedly. Since she had advanced macular degeneration, and her hearing was failing, I had to ask "didn't you hear me or don't you remember?" to which she said "I don't think I remember" and "that's not good, is it". After excluding Rx interactions and inadequate B12 (can mimic Alz), she was diagnosed with Alz Related Dementia and put on Aricept, later Exelon. After falling (and waiving off the EMT's with Levi Haines level toughness) the next day the pain set in, she ended up in nursing home, never to come out.

On my last visit where she was awake, she said "where's mom and don't tell me she's dead". (This was 2012, and her mother, born in 1889 died in 1982). I couldn't imagine how she couldn't remember or reason it through, but could anticipate a response. When she passed, she was 15 days short of 100. Her youngest sister became the first centenarian last October, after my grandmother and another sister both hit 99 and change.

Now my Mom's getting it, like my Dad and his sister. My Aunt was only in her 60's.

So sorry to hear all of that. I wish you and your family nothing but blue skies from here on out. I remember my grandmother waking up in a cold sweat thinking she was late for the school bus… when she was in her 70s. You deserve every bit of this dominant run by the Lions to brighten your days.

I had an Aunt who seemed clear as bell to 95. Including going for 5 mile walks to my parents house. If my parents weren't home she would sit on the front porch and wait for my dad to get home and have him drive her home. By 96 she struggled to recognize people, but would still walk to my folks home and wait on her baby brother to show up and take her home. By 97 she was in a home and sharp enough to dress up and sneak out of the locked unit with large groups of visitors and walk to my parents home. She died at 99 from pneumonia. That's as close to a centenarian anybody in my family has come. My dad made 92 (CA), my mom is 90 and my dad had 3 siblings make 95 or greater.
