So glad that OU won last night but I could not watch it. Made it midway thru the 2nd quarter and finally gave up. Read all of the reporting this morning, saw the ESPN coverage. When the boys have to score 59 to win a ballgame and that is just enough to secure a victory then just WOW. I mean, damn, will they have to score more than 59 to beat Texas? I wish them well the rest of the season but until something is done about this atrocious defense I just can't watch them.

The offense is fun to watch, why miss out on that?

You'll never watch football again then... because football at all levels is moving to an all offense game and sport. It's arena football in the making. I offer you examples from just the games over this Thanksgiving weekend & the weekend isn't even over yet!

Texas High School 6A playoffs
13 out of the 16 playoff games scored 40+ points
10 out of the same 16 playoff games scored 50+ points

tOSU puts 63 points on the team that statistically had the #1 defense in CFB.

SEC (the all defense conference)
5 of the 12 teams scored 50+ points
2 of these 12 teams scored 70+ points

NFL
The Rams & Chiefs played a game that is being billed as the 'most exciting NFL game ever'. Final score 54-51

Fellas & Senior Sooner... football is changing right before our eyes.

Great post and I agree 100%. Penalties have changed the game too, way too many flags thrown for things that were ignored a few years ago. Players sometimes seem gun shy for fear of causing automatic first downs. The rules are very strict. Officiating crews are often inconsistent, adding to the mess.

That said, there are some very fundamental things our guys aren't doing. Such as, not turning their head toward the ball when defending a deep pass.

One aspect of this new "game" that drives me nuts is the 3rd/4th and long, where the Offense throws a sideline deep "50/50" ball -- which has turned into getting a DPI 50% of the time. I swear these are thrown to get DPI as much or more than they actually hope to complete a pass.
