Punts (not unexpected) O-line (not unexpected with the injuries) QB play (WTH Armstrong?) Cmon man. Way too many unforced errors by TA.

Mine would be:

Stupid stupid stupid penalties and way too many of them.
The punting game.
Play calling in the red zone.

Stupid penalties especially the person foul stuff. Wan't Rileys teams in Oregon St kinda known for that stupid penalty stuff?
Another play calling issue. 3rd and 3 or 2. Guaranteed pass play. D can key on it every time.

This crowd is hard to please. Can't play perfect. Great finish to sloppy middle of game.

I think your missing the bigger picture here. Yes a win is a win. While the score looks good from and outsider perspective, just as last weeks game. This team has a ton of big issues, one of the big ones is personal foul penalites and unsportmanlike. Those are mental issue, if players can't even get the mental side of things figured out they won't get the game side of things when playing good teams. I believe Rileys Oregon St teams were know for mental issues and penalties as well.

Thankfully we played 2 bad teams and got 2 wins. Going forward that changes, good teams will exploit all the issues 10x. We won't be able to rely on better athletes and size to get a win. IF we continue to play like we have, we only get 3-4 more wins. This team looks worse fundamentally at this point than last years team.

I must be old, I remember when we had 5-8 seasons and We weren't relevant, so I will take any win and be very happy about it. I'm not the coach so fixing it isn't MY problem. I'm very happy to be undefeated! #GBR

What's with the hysterics?

Yeah we have a crapload to work on, but last year's team would not have responded the way this year's team has responded. What are our 4th quarter stats through 2 games? Isn't that what we've been begging for for years now? It will get better just as soon as we stop with the stupid penalties.

Nonsense. Absolute nonsense.
IF we continue to play like we have we'll do blah blah blah..... Wow! What great analysis there. I was expecting we wouldn't have to improve at all the rest of the season. I mean don't we always expect our teams to be in end of the season form after 2 games? I don't know why people waste this unnecessary analysis every time about "if we play like this against so and so....". Everybody knows that. You aren't telling anybody something they don't already know. The difference is your assumption obviously is that we won't improve. I believe I'll wait for those games to be played before I'll make that assumption.

I agree same old narative. Tommy is horrible because he made one bad pass. We did not run enough. We passed too much. Bla bla bla

Penalties are totally on the player, not the coach. This isn't the first time they played football, they have been playing this game for over half their life.No excuses for personal foul and unsportsmanlike penalties.

They learned all this from the previous regime and Riley staff continues to not fix the problem..
I agree it's on the players so the Coach's need to hand out consequences.

I think the Huskers have improved. I like how the I- backs have run. Our receivers have played well. Tommy threw that bad interception yesterday, but I think he has shown improvement as well. (Let him run a few times and roll out to pass and he will win games for us). The defense has played much better than expected. It sure was nice to see those interceptions. I wish Gerry would just act normal but maybe he needs to be jacked up to play well. Overall I have really enjoyed the games. So here is my concern. I hope it is just because the Huskers were playing a vastly inferior team in Wyoming, but I thought Riley and Langsdorf tried to force the pass too much yesterday when the game was still tight. The Huskers got a big win in the end and put up big numbers in the passing game, but what happens on a rainy, cooler, October- November Saturday? Does this staff still beat their heads against the wall and force the pass? Or has this staff learned to be balanced and run the ball more. I hope they have, but I am still not so sure they have.

I do agree these guys should know better, but is the coaches job to make sure of it. To hold them to some accountability.
To emphasize my point on Riley having issues with penalties. I looked back the last 10 yrs. 7 of those 10 yrs he was in the top 25 is most penalized teams. 3 of those years he was in top 10.

Totally agree we have some work to do... And it needs to happen. If we don't stop with the stupid penalties then our improvement will be stunted.

Having said that, I like the 2-0 record with strong finishes. Sure beats last year's record and finishes, at least so far...

Our punt return game is horrific.... I think they got notes from the prior regime! Don't block anyone and see if something good happens?

Caleb Lightbourn has four yards rushing in the punt game, which is more than our punt returners after 2 games!

Tommy completed 3 screen passes to running backs, with touch. Screen passes were impossible for him last year, so that's an improvement!

Both lines need work. We knew the Dline was thin, but the Oline also needs more gusto.

Unbelievable Read couldn't find a better punter than Lightbourn. Now we have to use another scholarship for another punter.

What's dumb is this game last year would have been down to a final drive/Hail Mary. Now we close out the bad teams and there's still talk..
Great post. No one has been giving credit to the team for finishing this year. Yes there is stuff to work on, but compared to last year, the team is finishing games. They need to keep doing that, and working hard to improve.
