For at least the last 5 years it seems like I wake up every morning with something the knees or lower on my body hurting. Sometimes a knee, sometimes an ankle and sometimes an instep by my big toe. The pain was somewhere between barely noticing to barely able to walk. It would keep up for a day to a week and then move. It could have been left or right, it didn't matter. Once one pain would go away it would just move to another place. I started using Glucosamine about a month ago and haven't had a problem since a few days after I started to take it. Anyone with a similar problem and try the same thing to cure it?

My family doc told me that works for some, doesn't work for others

the difference is they get you for more money. are you over 35? because if so, then it is called getting old. stuff hurts. you know what will work better than that supplement they use largely for dogs that you mentioned, that is cannabis sativa. great natural anti inflammatory. give it a shot.

I'm 47 so maybe I'm an old dog.

When I was 23, this dude at my office told me that when you turn 35 everything starts to fall apart. He lied. It was 37. Everything hurts.

37, can confirm. So far this year it's a sprained thumb that just doesn't heal, bone bruise on the arch of my foot, and effing shingles. Still active, but it's starting to add up.

Used to use glucosamine w/chondrotine (sp) every day for years due to a bad knee (ACL replacement, significant cartilage damage, meniscus tear), and maybe it's the placebo effect but I always thought it helped a lot. Catch a sale and get it in bulk and it's not even that expensive.

I can't run anymore. A year ago I was dominating 20-year old's at full court basketball. Now I run like a woman with osteoporosis.

I've tried a few things for two bad knees.

Glucosamine had little to no effect.

The halyonuricwhatever injections seemed to help a bit, nothing big but seem worth it so I get them every 6 months.

The cortisone and painkiller cocktail shot I got once was absolute heaven, for a few days. I haven't had any for a few years because it's depressing for it to wear off and know you only get a couple a year. I'm saving them for later in life and hoping something better comes along.

Voltaren Gel works but you have to get a prescription and it's not cheap
Voltaren pills are hard on my stomach

I think it depends on where you get it. Prior to my last knee surgery, doc prescribed Pennsaid. $10 co-pay and that was it, but and I'm not kidding, I had to order over the phone from this little prescription shop in TX on the Mexican border, so I can only imagine it's origins. That said, it worked great.

And Winstrol/growth hormone cocktails.

And using adult stem cells for dick girth injections too while we're at it.

Hell, aging doesn't sound too bad now. No different than those broads I see getting tit jobs in their 60s and lip fillers in their 70s. Gotta keep up with those rascally old hens.

Getting down or close to your BMI does wonders. Your joints weren't made to take on the extra weight

I took G/C for a few years and then I stopped. After a month or so my knees starting aching all the time so I've gone back to taking G/C again but I just take one pill a day and my knees are much better. I agree getting your weight down is a good thing to do but not easy.

What I've found out is it is not something that works in a short period of time, you have to take it for a month or so and you will just realize the pain is much less than it was.

They are life savers when you need them

yea but i couldn't even get, not to name any names, a well known regular posting physical therapist or well known paddock eye doctor to be willing to prescribe such happy pills for migraines from blurry vision, cough cough, i mean neck and back pain. [jumpingsmile]

i kid of course! maybe...

I took G/C for close to a year. I never noticed any difference in taking it/not taking it. Research on it seems split. 35 was a magic number for my body. More injuries, aches, pains, & slower to recover. It's the aging process. Incredible.

Sounds like you're asking the wrong people for loratabs. You need establish a strong relationship with white trash. You got a white trash buddy, you got you some loratabs. That's how it works.

Some people call it slow death. But yeah it's the "aging process".

That's keeping priorities straight Mav
I concur
Next question for Willie...... Can length as well as girth be addressed?

Every week I am involved in all kinds of knee surgery. Most of my patients are very obese and wonder...why do my knees hurt?? Well HELLO????? Just saying. Losing weight and passing on the Fries is better than looking for a magic pill!
