So I'm taking my mother to the Bama game Saturday night. We are going to leave Saturday morning and it takes about 5 hours to get to Lexington from where we live. I'm hoping to have time before the game to go eat somewhere because I've been to Lexington 4 times and everytime has been drive 5 hours, see the game, and then drive 5 hours right back home.

So what's a good restaurant in Lexington? Doesn't have to be the most fancy but I want something that's really only in Lexington or the NKY area.

I've seen Malones mentioned a lot over the years. What kind of place is it?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming Mom is not a tea-totaler and enjoys wine or a good stiff one pre-game, I highly recommend Table Three Ten and whatever they have on the big menu black-board on the left as you go in the door

310 W Short St
Lexington, KY 40507Phone number(859) 309-3901

I'll leave it to you to decide whether to expose Mommie Dearest to the unclean women of Belle's Cocktail House afterwards

156 Market St
Lexington, KY 40507

Try Saul Good downtown at the corner of North Broadway and West Short Street. It's very good and the prices are very reasonable. It's also within easy walking distance from Rupp Arena.

Hey Zaytoven I am right across the line from you we tend land in Henry County, Paris-Mayfield road. You can look up Malones there are two sites in Lexington, or Joe Bolognas for Pizza is a neat place not far from Rupp 120 West Maxwell I believe and as was mentioned Saul Goods right down the street a little ways if you go there try there Bananas Foster waffle.. yes even for supper. I also feel like Lexington is in Northern Ky but the natives don't think so. Malones is a great steak house one of the best. If you stay over they have a great donut place called Spauldings.

Dude for the uniquest dining experience in this whole part of the country (and great food too) you must absolutely hit Coba Cocina in Idle Hour. Near where New Circle hits Richmond. Very cheap considering the quality of food.

Malone's is very nice but it's hardly unique (just a steak house) and you're not getting out of there for under $100.

Don't be an ***.

Anyway, Lexington is central kentucky. I'm sure I'd make similar mistake if I was visiting a place I've only been a few times.

Malone's is a steak house. It's definitely local Lexington, and can be very good, though IMO, it's a little overrated. It's locations are nowhere near downtown, FYI. I'd suggest Village Idiot. It's a block or so away from Rupp, and the food is trendy gastropub stuff. The drinks are really good too. I'd say you're looking at a $20 entree, $11 burger/sandwich. If you wanna go cheap, Goodfella's pizza, but there is no dine in area. Looking for something inbetween, I'd say El Habanero Loko. The tacos are $3 each, the sauce is spicy and delicious, there's a dine in area, and it's just a couple blocks from Rupp.

Enjoy your stay in Lexington and ignore jackasses.

I never miss Joe Bologna's when in Lexington, except when I go to a weeknight game. I live in Cincinnati. It's always a mad dash to get home from work and get to Lexington by game time.

Sorry guys y'all are right. I always want to think Lexington is decently close to Cinci and lump it into NKY. I apologize.

Well if I'm not leaving Malones for less than $100 for 2 people then I guess I can cross that off lol. I appreciate the answers guys. Every bit of info helps and I'll likely pick one of the ones from this thread.

Jrm, that's pretty cool. We might know each other. I figured I was the only person in the Henry County, TN area on the board.

There's 3 malones locations, not 2.

Anyway, go to Ramsey's there's 3 or 4 of them in town. Unless your looking to in walking distance to rupp.

Coba Cocina is really good. Affordable, good food, good atmosphere. My wife and I eat lunch there about once or twice a week.

Hey Zaytoven Cat. I'm in Murfreesboro,TN now but grew up on Old Murray - Paris Road and went to Henry County High School and later Murray State......it was tough growing up with all the Orange, but have been a UK fan since birth!....Enjoy your time at Rupp. I have seen Kentucky play more than a dozen times on the road, SEC Tournament, NCAA Tournament, etc. but never in Rupp. Hope to get that fixed sometime soon!

I always recommend The Grey Goose. 170 Jefferson Street. Great beer selection and really really good food. Pub/Tavern style food with unique twists. Pizza is really good as well as the Black Bean Burger.
