Hey Y'all

I'm coming for the Ole Miss / KY game. I'm flying in a couple days early. One day I want to play golf. My choices are the Greenbrier Country Club in Lexington, Glen Oaks Country Club, Persimmon Ridge and Polo Fields all in Louisville.

I am a Club Corp member so the price is the same for all four courses. What course is nicest and in best shape?

Thanks in advance,

TMR

Persimmon is easily the best course of the 4 -- one of the better tests in the state.

1. Persimmon

2. Greenbrier
3. Polo Fields

4. Glen Oaks

Perfect. I'll lock that in.

Would you play 36 at Persimmon or 18 at Persimmon and 18 at Polo Fields since they're only 5 mins apart?

18/18

You don't want 36 holes of Persimmon, it's a *****.

Personally not a big fan of the Polo Fields, I'd probably opt for 36 at Persimmon. My inlaws live in Persimmon Ridge, and I was out there just a week or so ago. It appeared to be in fantastic shape from what I could tell.

Cool. Thanks for all the good help! I think I'll play Persimmon in the morning then make the call if I want to play it again or jump over to Polo Fields.

Should I do the Bourbon Trail or is it too touristy? Also, I'm not much of a Bourbon guy. I prefer beer. If I don't do the trail what are some can't miss breweries to hit?

This is the correct order, but last time I played Persimmon it was not in all that great of shape. Heard they had membership issues (doesn't nearly every course?). But it will certainly test your game. I freaking hate the split fairway par 5 (no. 2?). It usually swallows a ball.

36 at Persimmon. Better course.

Is it really that simple for you guys? You have a list of courses to play, so you pick the best one, and just play it over and over and over again?

Is that how you all plan your golf trips? Sounds terrible.

Heading to Hilton Head next week for a golf trip, playing Harbour Town (or Long Cove, if you're special) for 7 days.

Check Heritage Hills.... Maybe it's too far out for you? But if it's in good shape (I don't know) I think it's more fun than Persimmon and the others but haven't played Polo... Persimmon is a test, if that be your want.

Nevel Meade would probably be more convenient to that end of town...but I agree on adding a course that's maybe *not* in your little deal or whatever instead of playing Polo Fields.

Probably cost you $20-$30 more than you'd be paying, if anything at all.

^ You can get a weekday tee time at Heritage or Nevel for Under $30 on GolfNow.

Going out to play Pebble Beach. I plan on playing 36 holes, so should i just ignore Spyglass and Poppy Hills and just play both rounds at PB ? I mean it is the nicer course.

Check out Buffaloes Trace if you go to a distillery. For beer in Louisville go to Against The Grain or the New Albanian.

That's not a given, a lot of people like Spyglass better. Also Persimmons Ridge is a great course, maybe the best in KY, Polo Fields is just another generic course. Pebble Beach and Spyglass are 2 of the best courses in the world, you don't skip one while you're there.

Little place right down the road from Lexington called CarNiCo. I would definitely give it a look. Beautiful lake views from holes 1 and 3

You must be a poor. When I go to Carmel, I play 36 at Cypress, only the Asian tourists play those inferior courses. Or if I am looking for something different, I call Clint and play at Tehama.
