Golf so far so good

At the end of round 1 (of 3) the 'cats are in 4th place out of 10 at the Gifford hosted by UCLA. Not surprisingly our best scorers are All American Jack Perry at -3 and World #1 Matt Fitzpatrick at -1. They are currently 4 strokes behind the leader and #1 ranked Alabama. 18 more to go today and another 18 tomorrow. This team continues to look solid.

I know a little something about fall golf, that last tournament at Erin Hills and now SoCal golf. It's no surprise Jack is doing well. What's surprising is that MF is doing so well. The grasses and heavy air can really screw up a kid who hasn't played on kikuya and heavy poa before. That's a really good sign. So much of college golf until Mid-May or so is site and weather specific - "horses for courses" stuff. It's nice to see a kid who has probably never played on that stuff doing well. That's a great sign.

Well, I don't know about the kind of grass he's played on, but coming from Sheffield England he certainly will not be thrown off by bad weather. Plus, the guy is simply gifted.
