Having a pretty bad lower back issue with my L3-4-5. Been dealing with it for a decade. Looking for a lumbar support device to wear while I am going thru PT. I see guys on the golf course wearing supports… any ideas what are the best? Looking at Amazon and it seems like this Copper Fit device may be the ticket. Any recs would be appreciated.

Try one of these. While lifting, I pulled a muscle along my spine a few months ago and life was agony until I ordered and started wearing this thing. It's very adjustable. Best $20 I ever spent. I recovered but am keeping this thing....it works.

For some strange reason Amazon is no longer allowing me to link URL's to products

Google the following info or enter this string into Amazon and you'll find the brace.

Dr. Arthritis Back Brace Support Belt, Advanced Back Support Brace for Sciatica, Lower Back & Herniated Disc Relief, Black

Measure your waist carefully. Size matters. Apparently if it's too large it's not as effective.

Try a Tommy Copper compression shirt first under your golf shirt, then a velcro back brace. It's really tough in hot weather to wear either to be honest.

Sharper image theraboost massage gun for $79.99 is pretty good . I’m free spending but those Theragun prices are insane .

Just got a Featol support from Amazon. Supposedly the best for golfers. What pisses me off… 5 rounds in Naples… 2 two-hour range sessions and not one issue. Come home and one day of splitting wood and I can barely walk!

I've got Spondy L2/L3 and a big tear L5 (everything is gone). Only solution is full fusion surgery, which I ain't doing. My golf problem is turning/rotating. I can go out and wave at it sort of pain free, but if I want to hit good shots I can't just do it with my arms.

The compression shirts work well for me - at work, when it's cool enough. Also much easier to swing a club with that than a back brace. I have a back brace, but have never tried to hit balls with it.

Did water therapy 5 straight days… no improvement. Taking 2 days of rest… if Monday it is still bad, ugh… I guess I will make an appointment with a neurologist

Ask around about a good "pain doctor". They (the good ones) point you in the right direction (which in my case was back surgeons) as well as give you honest opinions about sciatica, numbness, etc. Even w/ surgery (in my case), any numbness (finger tips, toe tips, outer left thigh) likely ain't going away.

Thanks… my issue is the discs push on a nerve causing pain in my boys! Sitting down is the worst… 2 minutes after I am walking the pain goes away… and when I stand up straight and try and touch the ceiling it is totally gone. Swung my gap wedge slowly today… ten times… no pain while turning.

If a kid was walking around slapping himself in the face, and he stopped you to say "it hurts when I do this" ... what would you tell him? "Well, stop doing that," right?

Regardless, don't get spinal surgery unless you're ready for your life to just be over - that's what my doc told me ... "the next step would be surgery ... but once you do that, your back is never the same and your quality of life changes dramatically."

So I stopped doing what was causing the issue - long-drive prep and comp, even after a compression fracture from an accident years before that ... and went back to static and active stretching the **** out of it, and heavy deadlifts - then rotational work with weights. Back feels great, even many years later. I can even golf again, though I won't do the long drive stuff any longer. Never had to see a doc about my back again.

I was told to find a gym with an Olympic swimming pool and do laps. Just curious, have you tried swimming laps? I read water therapy in your post and was wondering if swimming is what you meant. Thanks.

Swimming laps helps and I have done that in the past. The water therapy I deal with now is in a pool, 4-6 feet deep, 94 degrees, with 5 lb ankle weights. I do a workout with stretching, leg lifts, exercises in a chair, running motion in deep end etc…. Workout takes 30-45 minutes, then I do 45 minutes in the gym at the facility. The PT who works on me is a good golfer and a member of my club so I trust him. I am finished lifting heavy wood, putting it on the splitter and stacking. Splitter is actually on FB Marketplace as we speak

Here is a high-quality, somewhat pricey brand of braces/supports/compression wear. I have no experience with their back braces, but I have used their elbow sleeves for tennis elbow, they were excellent.
