Swimming laps helps and I have done that in the past. The water therapy I deal with now is in a pool, 4-6 feet deep, 94 degrees, with 5 lb ankle weights. I do a workout with stretching, leg lifts, exercises in a chair, running motion in deep end etc…. Workout takes 30-45 minutes, then I do 45 minutes in the gym at the facility. The PT who works on me is a good golfer and a member of my club so I trust him. I am finished lifting heavy wood, putting it on the splitter and stacking. Splitter is actually on FB Marketplace as we speak
I retired on November 1, 2024. I felt great, not one issue whatsoever. Two weeks into my retirement I decided to start lifting using very light weight (22lb dumbbells). While doing standing military presses I felt something in my lower back and coccyx bone area. Sort of like a minor nerve pinch and muscle spasm. Move forward four months and I’m still dealing with acute lower back pain. I go to a chiropractor once a week and PT once a week. Both have provided marginal improvement. On the weekends I take an Advil & Tylenol cocktail on Saturday & Sunday. For now this makes my pain disappear for the entire weekend. On the 25th I have an appointment with a surgeon and hopefully he orders an MRI.

I hope your pain goes away so you can enjoy playing some golf.

Boys, there’s a reason I quit snowboarding at 58. Our goal now, imo, is to walk the earth with our lovers and drive fast cars.

That’s a bummer. I’m not a doctor, but I’ve learned from similar experiences that rest/inaction is the best medicine.

What took a few days to heal when you were younger now takes much longer. I’m not a fan of anti-inflammatory meds…yes, they temporarily make you feel better, but as a consequence, you then over exert and re-stress the underlying injury.

Hope you’re feeling better soon

I don’t know why people make fun of water aerobics.

Done properly, a good workout will make you sore (similar to Pilates)

If I may:
Hate when those things drive straight through my finger like that.

Thank you !
I've had great success resolving my minor back issues using an inversion table. Years ago, anytime I had lower back pain that lingered for more than a few days I would use the table for 15-20 minutes for a few days and the pain would disappear. Even though they take some getting used to and might be a little uncomfortable hanging all your weight from your ankles, nothing beats traction to take care of back issues.
