my only complaint-and it's a relatively small one - is our foul trouble. There were some ticky-tack calls, but in general our foul trouble limited our aggressiveness late. Fortunately we'd played well enough earlier that Ped State was never in danger of winning.

Good job guys.

Foul trouble really scares me, too. We were able to overcome the problems tonight...but that won't happen every time.

My other concern is that lousy shell we curl into sometimes (like the last six minutes of today's game)...

Interesting comment from Joe Meyer after the game about the intricate preparation the Cats go through at their shootaround. Really focused today on shutting down Shep Garner, who scored just eight points. The guy has hurt us in the past!

Another great first half gives us breathing room down the stretch. We did a much better job of breaking the second half press compared to the Dayton game. We showed excellent ball movement, shooting and rebounding. A convincing win despite Penn State's run late in the game. Collins had them prepared coming into this important opener on the road. It should give the team confidence going into East Lansing on Friday.
Go Cats!

Lumpkin especially needs to stay out of trouble. Watching today you can now see why Tap doesn't get a whole lot of minutes. Lots of matador D from him and don't remember him scoring. Brown on the other hand looked good on both ends of the court and his ball handling was pretty good as well. Lindsey and Law carried them in the first half. Benson is going to be a good one.

willy, you're right because of our lack of depth. Lindsey is so obviously our best player it isn't even close, and he will get even better. Law and B'Mac are OK, but they really can't shoot.

Tap is tap. He hit a three, I think. He played a couple good stops on D and did good breaking the press. But he will never be a D guy. I thought Skelly had a hot / cold game. He got beat easily with poor footwork but also made some nice stops and blocks. Brown had a glorious 'welcome to the B1G' moment early and seemed to bring his game up a tick.

I was impressed overall, but the fouls and dead periods made me nervous. Friday should tell us a lot.

Great team win. This is shaping up to be a fun and wild ride for NU fans. 31 points for Scottie Lindsey. What is impressive about this team is when one player has an off night, another player steps up. When Lumpkin is off Skelly steps up. When McIntosh is off then Brown steps up. Benson gives some big strong minutes. I guess the MVP designation for Lumpkin and/or Tap was a bit premature which is not surprising considering where it came from. Lindsey is the scoring leader and playing an all-around great game. Keep an eye on MSU at Minny tonight. Those are NU's next two opponents.
