My son is 12, wanting to learn guitar. Before we dive into lessons, I want to see if he really will practice/is halfway serious. I have seen a few apps for learning. Any you recommend?

He does have a PS4 but has a acoustic guitar so no output jacks. I don’t think he could use the Rocksmith game?

Marty Schwartz is the best online instructor I’ve seen. Lots of his stuff is available on YouTube for free

I would buy a $100 fender squire strat and let him play Rocksmith.

I bought a new version of it with the USB cable for PC on ebay for $20

Its an excellent learning tool, all self taught. I set my nephew up on it as well.

Marty's stuff is good. I like Griff Hamlin's Blues Guitar Unleashed. Stich Method is good. I've got a bunch of YT websites subscribed to. Some are just licks which gets old fast. Some of the 'teachers' come across either as complete imbeciles, complete noobs to teaching or have no personality whatsoever. Lots of good, free guitar websites where you can plug in and learn.
